🍪Recipe of the week: 🍪

3 ripe bananas, mashed
⅓ cup applesauce
2 cups oats
¼ cup almond milk
¼ cup raisins or dark chocolate chips
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350°F.
Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Divide the dough into 6 equal balls. Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray or line with parchment paper. Press the balls of cookie dough down onto the pan. Make sure to leave some room between the cookies. Bake for 15-20 minutes.
Makes 6 large cookies. Count each cookie as a snack + 1 fruit.

Aside from beauty and functionality, let’s consider how to make it conducive to a diet as well! -Bench or a couch close to dining room table:
So that when the meal is over but everyone is still talking you can still be there without being near all the food. -Homework station that isn’t the dining room table:
Maybe in the study or even their room. This will benefit you when helping the kids and the kids as well, so they’re not mindlessly munching while doing their homework. -Office placement:
Ideally on a separate floor from the kitchen, but certainly not IN the kitchen. -Cabinets:
High cabinets for the stuff you DON’T want to easily reach and lower cabinets for the healthy snacks, salad containers, etc. -Mini Fridge upstairs:
For baby bottles and drinks, this way if you need this in the middle of the night you don’t go down and sabotage yourself (especially since exhaustion leads to poor decisions). -Separate drinks fridge:
Even in the kitchen, so when you need a drink you don’t get distracted by everything else. -Filtered water:
So you never have an excuse as to why you didn’t drink your water. -Make your kitchen NOT visible to other rooms or the entrance when possible:
This way if you need to hold off cleaning for when you’re not going to pick on stuff, the fact that others can see it won’t pressure you. -Organization:
Cakes and stuff you made for the future in a downstairs freezer. This way, it doesn’t turn into today’s cakes and stuff. -Combo locks:
On junk drawers or cabinets to protect the kids (and adults). Even if the locks aren’t 100%, just having a lock there isn’t an instant reminder to “stay away unless necessary”. -Placement:
Higher for junk and lower for healthy foods. Remember to keep the healthier stuff at eye level and within easily reachable distances. -Mini bags or containers:
This helps with portion control so try to opt for mini bags or separate a big bag of whichever snack into containers. ❣️Tanya

Monday myth time!

Myth: Your fingers expand and shrink based on the weather.
Fact: When you are in a cold environment, your body tries to keep your core warm by constricting your blood vessels and reducing the flow of blood to your skin. This causes your fingers and toes to shrink, so if you are wearing a ring on your finger, it will become loose.
The opposite happens when it is warm outside. Your body tries to cool itself by dissipating heat through your skin through the process of sweating. As the external temperature rises, your blood vessels dilate, so that your blood flow increases and the excess heat in your body can be released into the environment through your skin. This causes your fingers and toes to expand, so if you are wearing a ring, it will suddenly become a lot tighter.

🍪Recipe of the week: 🍪Ingredients:
1½ cups whole wheat pastry flour or white whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
3 bananas
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 tablespoon olive or coconut oil
1 egg
½ cup nonfat plain Greek yogurt or unsweetened applesauce
1 tablespoon unsweetened almond milk
¼ cup chocolate chips or less

Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray a 12-cup muffin tin with nonstick cooking spray. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda and salt.
Add bananas, honey, vanilla, oil, egg, almond milk and yogurt (or applesauce) into a blender. Blend on high for 1 minute or until well combined, smooth and creamy.
Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Gently fold in chocolate chips.
Divide batter evenly into muffin tin and bake for 20-25 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean or with just a few crumbs attached.
Cool muffins for 5 minutes then remove and transfer to a wire rack to finish cooling. Muffins are best served warm and even better the next day.
Makes 24 mini muffins. Count 2 muffins as a snack.
