Let's discuss about C. difficile which is a common healthcare-associated infection that was estimated to cause almost half a million infections in the U.S. in 2011. ARE YOU SERIOUS? C. difficile bacteria form spores that can be transmitted between patients via the hands of healthcare providers. While alcohol-based hand rubs are highly effective against nearly all other pathogens in healthcare settings, they have no effectiveness against C. difficile spores. When caring for a C. difficile patient in a routine patient care situation (not a C. difficile outbreak or hyperendemic situation), so the real question is how can healthcare providers optimally prevent C. difficile and other healthcare-associated infections?

1. Use soap and water
2. Use alcohol-based hand rub
3. Wear gloves and use soap and water
4. Wear gloves and use alcohol-based hand rub

Our 5 senses are our physiological capacities of what makes us unique human beings which provide data for perception.
This is amazing to see how this little one reacts and automatically smiles when he sees his mother for the first time.
Sight or vision is the capability of the eye(s) to focus and detect images of visible light on photoreceptors in the retina of each eye that generates electrical nerve impulses for varying colors and brightness. There are two types of photoreceptors that we have learned in nursing school which are rods and cones. Rods are very sensitive to light, but do not distinguish colors. Cones distinguish colors, but are less sensitive to dim light. This little one reacts to finally having a chance to see his mother with a huge bright smile.
This my fellow NurseGang is just a soft reminder of how we shouldn't take everything for granted, especially our 5 senses like
Touch
Taste,
Smell,
Hearing &
Sight.
But we can't forget about the most important sense which is my favorite sense that i call our intuition as being aware of your surroundings and feelings. Which many Registered Nurses know this. How many nurses have that nurse intuition?

I'm a 💪🏽Proud 🇲🇽Latino Enfermero😷.
These two have taught me everything I needed to know about life and always encouraged me to finish Nursing school strong. I was the first in my familia to enter the medical field.
My ancestors had no choice but to work in farm labor, railroads & orchards to provide for my parents. Growing up Hispanic always had different views pero todo los Dias me dijo que hechale ganas y trabaja duro.
Y tiene respecto con todos.
I also had a BIG familia whom taught me more than what life is all about. Life is all about giving back to the community, mission trips, helping the less fortunate & learning to help out my culture, my ethnicity, my nationality and the ones that support my vision. My Hispanic 🔥Fire is lit and doing this going 0 to 100000000000. #NursesUnite #NoMeMetasConMigo #NURSEpiration #SiSePuede #Enfermeros #RN #LVN #CNA #MA #MD #DondeEstanMisLatinos #MyPeople #MiRaza #LatinoAllTheWay #PuroAmor #QueLaChingada #ChanclaAmor #huaraches #RamasDeLosArboles
Therefore, these two with my little beautiful sister are my reasons why I get up early to grind, work, put in cardio and provide to not just them but for the whole nursing 🌏world of 3.2 million Nursebrothers and NurseSisters
Everybody has the light to shine, but make sure you use your talent the right way because GOD gave it all to us.
I challenge you to tag that person who inspired you to become a NURSE👇🏽

How many of you love cardiac?💉❤️
Remember life is a feeling process, so never ignore what your ❤️heart tells you.
Many people speak from their brain, but many will feel you from their heart because we intellectualize since life is a feeling process.
The Heart is a muscular organ about the size of a ✊🏼fist and its located just slightly behind the left of our breastbone. The heart pumps blood through the network of arteries and veins which is called the cardiovascular system.
Ready? quick Nursing Review?
The ❤️ Cardiac has four chambers:

The right atrium receives blood from the veins and pumps it to the right ventricle. This is where the right ventricle pumps the blood into the lungs, where it is loaded with oxygen. Wait we're not done yet, lol Then the left atrium receives oxygenated blood from the lungs and pumps it to the left ventricle (the strongest chamber). Then the left ventricle pumps oxygen-rich blood to the rest of the body. Hope I made the understanding of pathophysiology as easy as 123....lol

"REAL MEN, Get REAL FACIALS",
Let's face the truth, "No pun intended" lol
I wanted to thank my Nursesister @nursing_is_my_heartsoul for my micro-needling collagen facial. My fellow Nursebrothers step your game up because I had a great first time experience and coming back for another round. Honestly my skin has become more soft and smoother than before.
It's very important to take care of our skin because our skin is the largest organ in the body. The human skin (integument) is composed of a minimum of two major layers of tissue: the epidermis and dermis.
So what I had done was a Micro-Needling facial with PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma). This Microneedling facial is done with this small device that has dozens of tiny needles that painlessly puncture your face as it opens up small areas of your skin. As this occurs we use our own blood, which in this case was my own platelet rich plasma.
Thanks for the effective treatment and Check out their location for treatments & you won't be disappointed my fellow NurseBrothers and NurseSisters. Tell them @nursemendoza sent you and use my promo code "NURSEpiration" for that beautiful soft new skin. You won't regret it.👌🏽❤️

6 Great Tips On Effective Communication.👇🏽
(Clink link in Bio to see full Vid)
Doctors and Nurses are an integral part of the medical field and this couldn't be possible without each other's communication.
I had the opportunity to discuss with Dr. Aunna Pourang @draunna
who’s a Family physician with her personal 3 tips on how to effectivelty communicate with nurses and I also offered 3 tips from a Nurses standpoint on how to effectively communicate with Doctors/Intensivists/Surgeons.

Dr. Aunna Pourang stated
1. Be respectful with the nursing staff.
2. Be Proactive and Not Reactive with Nurses.
3. Important to listen to what the Nurses recommendations are.

@nursemendoza ICU RN stated,
1. Notify MD with all your vital info all at once.
2. Its not what you say, Its how you say it.
3. Ask the MD for updates and always give more info regarding the patient then less info.

‪What City should I come to next for my CardiacStrong event?
Stay proactive my CardiacStrong Nurses by being Active and moving your gluteus Maximus. Great turnout for my CardiacStrong Nursing fitness event🏃🏽❤️💪🏽here in Sacramento (916).
We jogged 3 miles,
discussed nursing,
Travel nursing opportunities, and had a great time.
HERES 3 DAMN GREAT REASONS TO RUN again and stay @cardiacstrong my fellow nurses👇🏽
➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
1. Osteoporosis. Weight-bearing exercise (such as walking, jogging, stair climbing, dancing, or lifting weights) strengthens bone formation and helps prevent the osteoporosis or bone loss. Combine a healthy diet & regular weight-bearing exercise for maximum results.

2. Psychological Benefits. Improved self-esteem is one of the top benefits of regular physical activity. While exercising, your body releases chemicals called endorphins that can improve your mood and the way you feel about yourself which after a run or workout you'll feel often described as "euphoric.

3. Motivation/Determination: When you set out on a run, you set an immediate goal for yourself. This works as a motivator for you!
Achieving these short and long term goals help shape our mental well being and prepare us for the stressors of everyday life. So reward yourself today and go out and work on getting your #CardiacStrong workout for the day!
Stay tuned for @NurseMendoza's next @CardiacStrong fit event! ❤️💪🏼

What City should I come to next for my CardiacStrong event?

Happy Mother's Day for all my Nursing Student Mothers learning about Cardiology, so
Let's break down the 4 different type of AV-Blocks as we start this Friday'all know we are studying and or working as we start this week. I thought chu knew? Lol
-------------AV blocks-------------
1st degree
The PR interval is prolonged (> 200 msec). Benign and asymptomatic. No treatment required.
2nd degree
Mobitz type I (Wenckebach)
Progressive lengthening of the PR interval until a beat is “dropped” (a P wave not followed by a QRS complex). Usually asymptomatic.

Mobitz type II
Dropped beats that are not preceded by a change in the length of the PR interval (as in type I). It is often found as 2:1 block, where there are 2 or more P waves to 1 QRS response. May progress to 3rd-degree block. Often treated with pacemaker.

3rd degree (complete)
The atria and ventricles beat independently of each other. Both P waves and QRS complexes are present, although the P waves bear no relation to the QRS complexes. The atrial rate is faster than the ventricular rate. Usually treated with pacemaker.

What rhythm fascinates you the most?👇🏽

Let's get up and stay active my fellow Nurses.
Sacramento CardiacStrong Event!!! 🏃🏽❤️💪🏽
@NurseMendoza setting up another @CardiacStrong ❤️💪🏼 fitness movement event in Northern Cali here in Sacramento, which will be held this Monday the 15th for a CardiacStrong event at
Discovery Park.
I-5 and Richards Blvd. Sacramento, Ca 95814
this Monday
my fellow @cardiacstrong fam
for a 2 mile jog,
discuss nursing,
Travel nursing opportunities,
and having a great time.
HERES 2 GREAT REASONS TO RUN this Monday👇🏽
1. Heart Disease. Regular activity strengthens your heart muscle; lowers BP; increases "good" cholesterol (high-density lipoproteins or HDLs) & lowers "bad" cholesterol enhances blood flow. helps your heart function more efficiently. All of these benefits reduce the risk of stroke & heart disease

2. Type II Diabetes. This disease is increasing at alarming rates by 62% since 1990 crazy right? and 17 million Americans now have it. Physical activity can enhance weight loss & help prevent and/or control this condition. Losing weight can increase insulin sensitivity, improve blood sugar, cholesterol levels & reduce blood pressure.

Thanks for those @NURSEpiration words Alice,
"What inspired me to be a nurse was when I was 13 I was sick and I ended up in the hospital and I'll never forget the nurse that took good care of me and I remember telling my parents after that experience I think that's when I wanted to become a nurse" -Alice RN worked 47yrs

First and foremost Happy Mothers Day, but I have to share this post of having a great opportunity of meeting a retired 47 year veteran nurse, yes I said 47 years in the nursing game and her name was Alice as I was arriving on my flight.
So we had a great chance to discuss how nursing is evolving for the better and that we need more MEN. Lol
Thanks Alice for your time and consideration to do this live and on the spot with me today.
Here's here the small rapid interview👇🏽

Last day of nurses Week, but the End is only the Beginning right? Here's a brief History of Nurses Week, look how many times we were SHUT DOWN until we deserved our WEEK💉❤️😷💪🏽.
In 1953 Dorothy Sutherland of the U.S. Department of Health, Education sent a proposal to President Eisenhower to proclaim a "Nurse Day" in October of the following year. The proclamation was never made.👎🏽
1972 Again a resolution was presented by the House of Representatives for the President to proclaim "National Registered Nurse Day." It did not occur.👎🏽 Then shit got real, in 1974 In Jan of that year, the International Council of Nurses proclaimed that May 12 would be "International Nurse Day." (May 12 is the birthday of Florence Nightingale.) Since 1965, the "International Nurse Day was celebrated."😷💪🏽.
1974 In February of that year, a week was designated by the White House as National Nurse Week, and President Nixon issued a proclamation.😷💪🏽.
1978 New Jersey Governor Brendon Byrne declared May 6 as "Nurses Day." Edward Scanlan, of Red Bank, N.J., took up the cause to perpetuate the recognition of nurses in his state. Mr. Scanlan had this date listed in Chase's Calendar of Annual Events. He promoted the celebration on his own.😷💪🏽 1981 ANA, along with various nursing organizations, rallied to support a resolution initiated by nurses in New Mexico, through their Congressman, Manuel Lujan, to have May 6, 1982, established as "National Recognition Day for Nurses."🇲🇽💪🏽.
1982 In February, the ANA Board of Directors formally acknowledged May 6, 1982 as "National Nurses Day." The action affirmed a joint resolution of the United States Congress designating May 6 as "National Recognition Day for Nurses."❤️💪🏽. 1990 The ANA Board of Directors expanded the recognition of nurses to a week-long celebration, declaring National Nurses Week from May 6 - 12 as permanent dates to observe National Nurses Week!
