It’s officially my first Christmas without any grandparents, and while I am lucky to have had so many for so long, it’s sad to think they’re all gone now. Knitting the past few days has me thinking a lot of my gram, and Wednesday is my grandpa’s birthday. It’s the first year in many that I haven’t baked him a sweet treat or at least sent a card. Gives me all the feels...
It’s 11:42pm, and I just spent the last 30 minutes rifling through my closet, then my guest room, onto the laundry room, and then the closet again to finally find this. It may look like a basic poncho, but it’s far from that. It was crocheted by my gram with love, worn daily to keep warm, and I can almost hear her laugh when I picture her wearing it. This poncho crossed my mind, and I couldn’t go to bed without knowing exactly where it was. Of all the things I have from her, I think this is my favorite.
She was only 4’11”, so it’s more of a capelet on me... but I love it just the same. ❤️ I think I’m going to work it into my wardrobe this winter. Beautiful things deserve to be worn, after all. ✨#crochet #heirlooms #grandparents
