Robbie Rodriguez is in his 6th season with NMBC and has had the privilege of being able to perform and choreograph various roles for the company. Most recently, he was given the opportunity to bring to life the title role of Aladdin in Aladdin and the Magic Lamp. In addition to dancing, he also teaches, choreographs, and does the marketing for the company.

For this year's production, Robbie took to choreographing a fun, sassy number to "Tango de Roxanne" from the Moulin Rouge. This pieces has pushed the dancers to explore their style and performance qualities. The piece incorporates Latin, jazz, and ballet techniques in a fun, different way. In addition to this newly created piece, he is also contributing two pieces from his competition team to the show. A small group lyrical number to "Open Hands" by Ingrid Michaelson and a heartfelt duet to "Palace" by Sam Smith.

Tracy has been with NMBC since Fall of 2002 and has many lead roles such as Dew Drop in Nutcracker and The Queen of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland. She has been trained in many different styles such as tap, jazz, hip-hop and ballroom!
In the past for the Choreographers Collective Tracy has choreographed big broadway production numbers from On the Town, Westside Story and Hairspray. This year she took a different approach of using just 4 dancers and really wanted to showcase the dancers through choreography that felt good on their bodies. The music is “ Rolling in the Deep” by The Piano Guys. It’s a very different approach and it was a whole different challenge. She wants to thank Kelly, Kira, Kiera and Amanda for dancing her choreography so beautifully!

Jaclyn says this year I wanted to challenge myself by choreographing not only two pieces, but two pieces that are radically different from one another. Every year I push myself further from my comfort zone in terms of choreography and this year's Choreographers' Collective felt like a huge step for me and my work.

My first piece is a jazzy pas de deux set to 'One Step Ahead' by Aretha Franklin incorporating both lyrical and neoclassical ballet technique. I've envisioned a duet to this song for several years and finally took advantage of my opportunity create it this year. My dancers, Amanda Rohr and Robbie Rodriguez, have been nothing short of a dream to set choreography on and they've brought my vision to life.
My second piece, 'Discombobulate', is danced by five company ladies and set to music by Hans Zimmer from the 2009 Sherlock Holmes film. It combines classical ballet, contemporary, and a lot of my own little quirks. For this piece I wanted to do something I've never done before and create/set all of my choreography on the spot which was both scary and exciting for me. The music is pretty strange and my goal was for the choreography to match that strange, non-traditional feel. The dancers in this piece have picked up on all of my semi-bizarre ideas and made this piece so much fun to choreograph.

I've been with the company for six seasons and this is my fourth Choreographers' Collective. I love the artistic and creative challenges that come along with this show, I'm so excited to not only dance in it, but for others to experience my pieces as well.

Rebekah has been with NMBC for over 15 years. She has participated in the company as a contract dancer, coach, choreographer, and instructor. She has been fortunate to work with a wide variety of directors, choreographers, and dancers throughout her time with the company, including Peggy Lyman and Peter Pucci, as well as original works by Vladimir Conde Reche, Jolie Sutton-Simballa, and Natalie Harris, among others. This is Rebekah's third Choreographer's Collective.

This year, Rebekah has choreographed a quartet to Disturbed's cover of "Sound of Silence". This contemporary work is an interpretation of the music and the concept behind it. With the advances in technology and an evolving idea of how humans should live their daily lives, we have fallen out of touch with what really makes us human: our connection to each other. We strive to live in a world that defies labels and boundaries, yet we have become increasingly polarized and reject the idea of reaching out to those who need it, and refuse to acknowledge those reaching out to us. How can we become better human beings when we rarely look beyond our own arm's length? When will we stop hiding behind our phones and computers and begin truly caring for one another? We silence each other with our lack of connection and our inability to show true love and compassion. "Sound of Silence" calls on us to break the walls that divide us; it challenges us to look long and hard at ourselves and how we can change our world merely by caring for one another.
