Last 60 degree day in the foreseeable future - perfect excuse to knock off work for a few hours.

Last day of fruit. Nuff said.

Two full days of Cabernet Franc and Vintage 2018 is complete. I’m thankful to work with some terrific growers and the picking/sorting crews that made this challenging season seem manageable. Also, a big thanks to neighboring wineries who helped us through the big push of one of the most condensed vintages I’ve ever seen! @rieslingmonster @lakewoodvineyards

Riesling juice off to barrels for natural fermentation.

I was a little afraid about the quality of Riesling going into the fall in such a challenging year. These handpicked beauties changed my mind.

Red pressing begins! We took the first lot of Pinot off skins and it will be sent to neutral French oak to live for the next year.

Here’s a picture that isn’t of grapes. Proper harvest fuel. Tacos, beer, and mezcal.

A tale of two Pinots. On the left, west side Seneca fruit on silt loam soil. It’s a blend of nine clones on one acre. The wine tends to have minimal tannins, extremely bright fruit, and lovely floral aromatics. On the right, east side Seneca fruit sitting on shallow topsoil with large shale stone deposits. The vines were “suitcase” clones from Burgundy. The wine tends to have a firm tannic structure, and more earth driven aromatics. I’m very grateful to work with such amazing growers.
