This is Richard Fazzio. 73 years ago on this day D-Day, June 6, 1944, he was a United States Navy Coxswain delivering soldiers of the 1st Infantry Division onto Omaha Beach.
He was piloting Boat #5 in the first wave. Most of the troops in his Higgins Boat were killed when the ramp went down on landing craft. He was also shot while trying to return for more troops. Meeting this man was a true honor, we are forever indebted, many men lost their lives for our freedom. The men who were lucky to survive came home with physical and mental scars that are incomprehensible. Thank You Richard and all other veterans who served on that historic day. #truepatriot #thankful
