❤️✨Most of us don’t like to talk about our physical flaws and imperfections and I’m no exception.....but on a rainy day like today I’ve had the opportunity to sit and ponder about where I was before I started my training program and I’ve decided to open up about a particular imperfection in hopes of motivating at least one of you to take action.
It was only last year that I had spine surgery on my neck. For many years and without knowing, I was wasting away my muscles on the left side of my body. As a result, my shoulders were unbalanced and I was slumping to the left. You can see a picture if you swipe left.
Fast forward just 5 months into my weight training program with Xavier @urfitwellnesscenter and Heather @heatherbennetttraining and I feel like a different person. My shoulders are back in balance!
All the hard work has already paid off. Regardless of where I end up on my bikini competition, I know in my heart that I’ve already won.✨❤️

❤️✨”There is a difference in living and living well” were the lyrics of the country 🤠 song I was listening to when I was thinking of the subject for this post.
I hear a lot of people say that they want to enjoy life and not worry about their health because we are all going to die from something someday anyway.
That truly is easier said than done. I have 2 aging parents and have asked them if they are ready to die or get sick. My dad is almost 84 years old and is determined to live past 100. My mom is about to turn 77, had an emergency bypass surgery and wants to fix all the things she’s done wrong with her diet. Neither one of them wants to die anytime soon.
Following a healthy lifestyle can be challenging but I’m almost sure it’s easier to do than dealing with a bypass surgery or worse. Something to think about.

❤️✨Family time! My youngest sister had her 2nd baby a few days ago and I came to meet him this weekend. He is such an easy going baby and a pleasure to bottle feed👶🍼 ......but I’m still glad mine are all grown up!😅😅.✨❤️

❤️✨Do you want to improve your focus? I always do!
One of the things that has helped me a lot recently is having a workout plan for the week. I take my plan to the gym every day and write down the weight I lift and the reps I do. I feel accomplished when I can check all the boxes on my sheet and I’m done for the day.
Knowing what I’ll be doing at the gym every day gives me a sense of calmness which helps so much with my focus. Give it a try.✨❤️

✨❤️Have you heard the saying “abs are made in the kitchen”? .
After participating in a bikini training program for several months, I agree that it’s the food we eat that has the most impact on how our bodies look.
.
We can exercise and lift weights all day long but if we don’t carefully watch what we eat, there will always be that extra layer of fat over the muscles we are working hard to build.
.
But is that lifestyle sustainable? I think it depends on our individual goals in life. What I can assure you is that I’m absolutely never hungry and I’ve also never felt healthier.
.
Do I crave certain foods? Only at social gatherings. There is no question that we all want to belong and it’s hard to keep saying “no” to friends offering food at parties, etc.
.
I realize that we each have our individual journeys and goals in life but I still want to encourage you to give a fitness training program a try. You never know where that path might take you!✨❤️

❤️✨Are you a bit too attached to your phone? 🤨 I used to be!!. That’s until I bought an Apple Watch.
.
Wait! Before you tell me that I just switched one gadget for another one 😂 hear me out on this one. .
1. Before I had my Apple Watch I would do several rounds a day of checking IG, FB, etc on my phone. One distraction would lead to another one! Too much time wasted.
2. With the Apple Watch you can prioritize the notifications you get. I put my phone away all day and only attend to the urgent notifications I choose to get, etc.
.
I don’t love to have to charge it everyday day and don’t like that it can’t really count calories burnt when I’m lifting weights, but overall it was a good buy!

❤️✨Many people ask me what I have done to keep my skin looking young. Here are my skincare tips for you:
1) Don’t smoke. Cigarette smoke is terrible for our skin.
2) Wear sunscreen every single day - no excuses.
3) Take your makeup off every night before bed (regardless of how tired or tipsy we are!🤪)
4) Drink a lot of water. 💦 .
Discipline and dedication does pay off. Remember that it’s never too early to start taking care of your skin!!

❤️✨I read a news article yesterday stating that the blood pressure medicine, Valsartan, was withdrawn from the market because it was linked to causing cancer. Would you believe me if I told you that I used to take that medicine to control my blood pressure? .
Of course, that was before I changed my diet and lifestyle and didn’t require medication anymore.
.
The point I’m trying to make is that although there are synthetic “remedies” to disguise many of our ailments, most of them come with potentially harmful known and unknown side effects. .
I kindly advise you to try to tackle your issues through diet and exercise first and use synthetic drugs as a last resort.✨❤️
