There is no way to adequately describe what 2017 has been like for me other than a FREAKIN’ DOOZY. Over the past year I️: got married to the best of my life and gained an incredible second family. Wrestled with, and ultimately learned to befriend, major anxiety and depression I️ had stifled for years. Got into an amazing med school. Learned to be vulnerable, ask for help, and voice my needs. Got the coolest pup ever. Lost two beloved pets. Fell in love with a new sport and discovered rich and diverse community within it. Began saying no to activities and obligations I️ genuinely hate (jogging, I️ am looking at you). Invested in treasured friendships. Most importantly, in the words of D.L. Mayfield, “Jesus is no longer an abstract person, a walking theology, a list of do's and dont's to me. This is the year I recognized him as my battered, bruised brother, and I saw how he never once left my side.” Thank you to everyone who’s celebrated the highs and mourned the lows with me and cheers to a wonderful year to come!
