I want to talk a little today about negative self talk and the power of positive thinking.
Negative self talk can easily take over our thoughts. You know the ones.. I'm not good enough. I'll never be able to do it. I'm stupid. Etc. Our brains can start to get used to this and it becomes a habit. These thoughts can make us feel depressed, sad, and or anxious. We start to believe these thoughts and take actions that guarantee that those thoughts will come into fruition. We won't try hard. We won't apply for that job. We won't approach our crush.
Without this negative self talk in the way we can live happier and accomplish more. I challenge you to challenge these negative thoughts. When you notice that you are feeling down take note of what you are saying to yourself and then test these thoughts. Are they accurate? Can you guarantee that they are true? What is a more positive way of looking at the situation?
Challenging your thoughts takes practice and can be difficult at first because you're breaking a habit. It becomes easier with practice. I posted a link in my bio with a very short read regarding negative self talk but there is tons of info on the web and if this is close to your heart I encourage you to look up CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) or to go to a counsellor to get help in learning the tools. Thinking positive can help you feel better and help give you the motivation to take positive steps in your life.
