Life is like a river, it ebbs and flows, has moments of both tranquility and chaos. Life, like all rivers, have a start and a finish. The journey from a rain drop to the inevitable end in the ocean couldn’t be more evident then the result of this week as my grandfather has finished his journey of life and flows into the eternal ocean.
The passing has been harder on me then I thought it would, especially being we have known for some time that this inevitable end was near. My Opa was one of the most interesting men I have ever had the opportunity to meet. His life was filled with amazing stories, journeys and lessons of which I was always intrigued to listen and learn from. He was a self made man, living through WW2 as a child, immigrating to Canada, teaching himself english as we worked as a young teenager. He built dams, farmed, started a successful construction company, and had a family of 3 daughters, all while being illiterate and only a 3rd grade education.
If he taught me anything, of which he taught me a lot, it's that anything is possible with hard work, determination, and a positive attitude, and to never believe anyone who says “you can’t.” Opa you will be deeply missed by many, and I only hope I can share some of the knowledge of life that you have taught me. ❤️
