The 1981 film MY DINNER WITH ANDRE was written and starred Wallace Shawn and Andre Gregory. It was an experimental film about two men discussing experimental theater over dinner and it was revolutionary in many ways. What most people don’t realize is that the original film actually had two more stars - Gil Faizon and George St Geegland. They were cut out of the final version for like a million reasons. Last night Michael Keaton, Paula Pell and Elvis Mitchell helped George and Gil finally see THEIR version of the film fully realized. It was a distasteful disaster.
Festivals can be real fun when you see friends new and old... 1. I didn’t want to bother this guy. He was eating tacos and looked like he wanted to be left alone so I just snuck a pic!! Shhhhhh!!!! 2. My religious leader Abbi and my bodyguard Natasha. 3. #olympicdream co-star and Olympics dreamboat Gus who’s as talented an actor as he is athlete. 4. The ghost of Nick Kroll with the voice of the ghost of Duke Ellington 5. My old college friend Melissa who’s a total badass at the center of Vox media.
I shot #olympicdreams a little over a year ago at the Winter Olympics with these two. This weekend, we premiered at #sxsw and it was so exciting to share it with the world. I’m very proud of this film. Can’t wait for more people to see it soon!
On #internationalwomensday I want to recognize my sisters Vanessa, Dana and my mother Lynn. Everything I know about to how to talk, listen, love and collaborate with women is because of what these three ladies taught me over the years. It all starts at home!
On a related note, my sister Vanessa has an amazing organization called @iamadynamogirl where she is providing girls positive and empowering experiences to build their self-esteem and help them grow stronger inside and out.
