My heart is real heavy today. Tita Jo was a big influence on me as I accompanied her and the St John’s Filipino Choir every year since high school. She had a tireless work ethic and led the choir with strength, humor and grace. Despite being sick and weak at times, she continued to direct the same way as she did at full strength. Truly one of the toughest people I know.
I didn’t realize it at the time, but she inspired me to carry that same work ethic as a professional musician over the years. She was a tough cookie, but did it out of love and made her choirs sound complete. In her absence, I will try my best to lead this choir as we prepare for the Cantata concert and throughout Simbang Gabi season, as she will always be a guide on my shoulder. We will continue her legacy moving forward.
Rest In Peace, make beautiful music up in heaven 🎶
