Olvidio Brilla, a local gardener and the person in charge of the vanilla project in Coquí, is optimistic about the future of his community. The vanilla bean only grows in a few places. In this remote region an endemic variety promises to be a viable alternative to illicit activities, including the cocaine trade which employs many young people.
This is Rose Marie Cromwell (@rorosiemarie), a photographer/artist based in Miami. This week I am sharing with you images made last October in the remote Chocó region, on the Pacific northern coast of Colombia. I created a narrative of this remote region through still-life and other photographs, focusing on medicinal plants and fruits representative and /or endemic to the Chocó.
