Having dabbled in training and dieting several times over the past few years, I noticed a common trend; every single time I started a 'healthkick' I'd inevitably fall off the wagon after 4 - 5 weeks. The intimidation of entering a busy gym on my own and the sheer frustration of my ever-looming beer belly making me feel a million miles from ever seeing the results I wanted.
-
Throughout my twenties I've promised myself I'll achieve the body of my dreams by the time I turn 30 years old. Soon after I turned 28, conscious that time was running out, I decided enough was enough. -
I searched online for trainers and glad I found Neil!
-
The person I was 6 weeks ago would never have thought it possible to achieve what I have in so little time, and I owe that achievement largely to him.
-
Before even starting my first training session, Neil's passion for helping people transform into the best possible version of themselves became instantly apparent. Straight away I could tell this guy does what he does purely out of love for it, and I think that's something which is becoming harder and harder to come by these days
-
2 days before I was due to start my first session, I was involved in a cycling accident and required minor surgery on my arm, which was due to keep me out of action for some time!
-
However, Neil was very insistent I didn't let this put me off. He still took the time to write up a personalized guide for me and reminded me that being temporarily unable to train didn't mean I couldn't still get into the habit of eating properly. For about 6 weeks, with no idea of how long it would be till I was able to train, Neil kept in regular contact every couple of days to check how things were going and was always ready to answer any questions I had around nutrition and training. In a couple of text messages Neil had already taught how to eat the foods I enjoy and make them work for (not against) me. Before I'd even entered a gym with him I'd lost half a stone of body-weight. That knowledge gained is quite honestly something I'll value for life - always remember: "this is not a 'diet'

Suffering with knee pain?
-
This can be a common occurrence especially with people who train regularly!
-
The problem can often be due to tighteness in the muscles around the knee cap, specifically the quad (VMO)
-
Help yourself and try this simple yet effective method

Current Physique Update
-
After admittedly just ticking boxes and doing the necessaries for a month I’ve finally got my passion back for training
-
My aim was to stay lean for my final trip to Ibiza but that was adding unnecessary pressure to stay in a deficit which sucked the fun out of training
-
I’m now 3 weeks into an off season phase with calories progressing up alongside a 4lbs increase in body weight
-
Things feeling a lot better and the big dumbbells are moving again
-
Abs are over rated anyway πŸ˜‚πŸ€«

Something a little different this week from myself & @jamesmcgreevy_pt -
Fitness word association game! πŸ˜‚
-
Basically we fire some fitness phrases at each other and hopefully come up with something interesting about the topic πŸ˜‚
-
Completely off the cuff; a little harder than I thought πŸ™ˆ
-
Hope you enjoy, let us know what you think πŸ’―

Credit to client Dimitros, AKA the β€˜Greek God’ πŸ˜‚πŸ’ͺ🏻
-
After a few months off, Dimitrios has got his head back in the game, currently following a 4 day per week upper lower training split
-
Food has been trimmed down and we have been prioritising a high protein, high carb and low fat approach with calories coming from nutrient dense foods
-
I want to highlight Dimitrios’s back. Notice how he initially suffered with large muscular imbalances, poor posture and a tilt
-
This is something that the majority of my clients suffer with initially
-
Often due to lifestyle factors and occupation -
Sitting at a desk, we often slump over disengaging the core and glutes -
Do you suffer with lower back problems? Tight shoulders or muscular imbalances?
-
Although it would be great to come in and start smashing the weights, it’s important to fix the fundamentals rather than just painting over the cracks!
-
This means prioritising weak points and making them a strength
-
You are only as strong as your weakest point and this is something I stress time and time again with clients -
In Dimitrios’s case this meant a lot of posterior chain (back, core, glutes & hamstrings) & single joint work to balance out any issues
-
As you can see the results speak for themselves -
Great work from a top trainer
-
Let’s see what the next few months have in store for this transformation πŸ’―πŸ’ͺπŸ»πŸ‡¬πŸ‡·

*Being comfortable is okay; but..*
-
Being comfortable gets you nowhere. It's safe and warm but it will not excite or change your life!
-
If you don't like where you are (body, job, relationship) then it's on you to take steps to change it!
-
Make a commitment to:
-
1. Do something everyday that scares you.
-
2. Talk or network with somebody new.
-
3. Set aside at least 30 minutes of your day just for yourself.
-
We can all become comfortable and for some that's okay; but are you happy where you are right now?!

Putting in the graft yesterday with client Carl πŸ’ͺ🏻
-
Carl’s journey so far has been hugely inspiring
-
Since starting around 12 weeks ago Carl has completely transformed his lifestyle. -
Carl had built up a very successful business over the last few years, however; his health was suffering
-
From not exercising in 12 years, living with deteriorating health and poor food choices; Carl then made the big decision to CHANGE!
-
Now Carl trains 5 days per week, follows a flexible nutrition plan which incorporates a huge variety of nutritious food and is able to kick my ass in the gym πŸ™ˆ
-
It genuinely makes me very proud and inspired to see someone make a decision and work flawlessly towards that goal πŸ’―βš’
-
A true gent and I am buzzing to see what we can achieve over the next few months πŸ‘ŒπŸ»
-
If you think you can’t then you are probably right
-
Make a choice and check your priorities πŸ’―πŸ₯—πŸ”₯

βš’βš’πŸ€―
Do you ever lose motivation to train?
-
Honestly this is something I never suffered with before until the last few weeks!
-
Things got busy in work, I had no clear goals which lead to a lack of motivation to push. Things just got a bit stagnant and I lost a little love for it
-
It was merely a case of getting it done and ticking boxes πŸ“¦ -
What to do?
-
Take a step back, have a break, set some goals and do the type of training you enjoy
-
Thankfully a few days off and downtime with some extra food has stoked the fire πŸ”₯ -
Clip from a β€˜kick in the hole’ session with touch and go deadlifts 180kg x 10 to get things going again.
-
To finish; a few scientific facts about training with the tops off πŸ˜‚πŸ€”
-
1. 10% less washing
-
2. Proven to add 20% to all lifts
-
3. 30% more likes for the gram -
4. 100% more savage πŸ’ͺπŸ»πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚

Myself and @jamesmcgreevy_pt are back discussing or biggest pitfalls when it comes to getting in shape
-
From our own experience in body transformations with ourselves and clients, where do people fail and why?
-
Going all in, shredded in 6 weeks, too much too soon and burning out!
-
Transformations unfortunately take time and consistency. You have to earn your stripes and be prepared to get your hands dirty.
-
What has been your biggest mistakes when it came to getting in shape?
-
Let us know πŸ’―πŸ’ͺ🏻

Sunday is the ideal day to get the food shop done!
-
For many the weekly shop can be littered with temptation that only aids in blocking progress.
-
We are bombarded with special offers on multipacks of all our favourite sugary treats, no more so than at this time of the year.
-
A few people have requested an affordable weekly shopping plan; so below im going to break down a shop into Protein/carbs/fats and treats to help keep you on track!
-
*PROTEIN* πŸ”
-
Chicken Breast (1kg), tinned tuna, frozen prawns, turkey sausages, quorn sausages, fage 0% greek yoghurt.
-
*FATS*🍳
-
Eggs, peanut butter, almonds, 50% less fat cheeses, flora light butter, almond milk
-
*CARBOHYDRATES*🍞
-
Sweet potato, asda price micro rice, oats, nimble bread, slim cinammon bagel, rice cakes, frozen blueberries
-πŸ…
Spinach, mushroom, butternut squash, peppers, onions, tinned tomato
-
*OTHERS/TREATS*🍿
-
Arla protein yoghurt, nandos mayo, pepsi max, 0kcal jelly, dark chocolate, low cal popcorn, spices
-
For me this is a typical weekly asda shop which comes to approx Β£50!
-
Stick to a plan, be consitent. -
If you do not buy junk food in then you can't eat it. If you really do fancy something then you will have to go out of your way to get it.
-
Hope this helps πŸ’ͺ

β€˜We spend too much time chasing income, rather than outcome’
-
It’s easy to get caught up on the hamster wheel; working every hour of the day, sleeping little, giving up time with friends and family
-
All to make money and climb the ladder to some notion of perceived success which we paint for ourselves.
-
Promising that it will all be worth it someday and things will eventually change once we have made it...
-
However; one thing we can’t control, buy or ever get back is time! πŸ•°
-
Listen I value hard work and motivation
-
For the those who say money can’t buy happiness, well that’s bullshit, it certainly helps!
-
But we need to remember to actually buy it! -
Finding the balance between climbing the ladder to success and actually living for the now is something a lot of people (myself included at times) struggle with.
-
By chasing income we need to remember the outcome of our actions
-
Learn to make time for yourself; health, spend time with friends, go on a holiday; LIVE.
-
Some of the wealthiest people I have met and worked with suffer with health issues, broken relationships and stress
-
Remember money is important but even more so is time and health.
