National Aquarium  National Aquarium is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to inspire conservation of the world's aquatic treasures!

Our celebration of #NationalZookeeperWeek continues with Aaron Pilnick!

Aaron's interest in maintaining complex ecosystems first led him to pursue a career caring for corals as an aquarist. "I work with both the biology of these animals and the technology used to keep them thriving. Most importantly, doing this work at a public aquarium also allows me to help provide some of the tools needed for the preservation of these critically endangered ecosystems."

Luna, the grey seal in our care, has gained 20 pounds and continues to improve!

Meet senior aviculturist, Lindsay Jacks!
Lindsay's advice to others wishing to pursue a career similar to hers is " be open-minded. I dreamed of being an elephant keeper, but landed my first internship with birds. Nine years later, I couldn't be happier!" Stay tuned as we continue to highlight our amazing keepers all week long for #NationalZookeeperWeek!

Happy #NationalZookeeperWeek!
All week we'll highlight some of our great keepers. Meet Shawn Fauth, a senior aquarist in our Australia: Wild Extremes exhibit!
Shawn told us about what led him to pursue his career: "I always had an interest in animals (especially fish), and knew that I wanted work with them. I started my current career path as an aquarist by completing an internship here at the National Aquarium. As an intern, I fell in love with the field. I enjoyed the mix of education, conservation work, and just being surrounded by the amazing animals that we get to work with every day, as well as the other passionate people who also work in this field!"
