It’s been awhile since I've released a full-length album. During the in-between time, I actually completed two full albums which I decided to scrap and start over. Making music has always been an enormous personal struggle and challenge. I write music almost daily but am often unhappy with the result OR if I am happy with what I've created, I'll let it sit too long; and when I go back to revisit, it no longer reflects my current state of mind. I am actively working on this and expect to release a lot of new music this year and more often moving forward.
Today, my album 'In Transit' is available on all digital platforms as well as a very limited run of cassettes. The album takes a different direction for me and each track is a kind of imagined soundtrack to small and often temporary moments in life. It’s a part of my own reminder to reflect and appreciate the small moments in the journey we are all on as we travel to a goal or a destination. “In Transit” also reminds me to reflect on the constant changes and motion all matter is in.
The limited edition cassettes share this temporary state because the physical cassettes are all from a different time in my life. What was once a Vanilla Ice or MC Hammer tape is now my album on the inside. It’s oddly difficult for me to sit and erase all of the old music contained on these tapes but then again, that same music has had its own transition to the cloud. Some part of me feels a kind of loss when overdubbing but at the same time, it’s kind of exciting to think how easily these tapes from the 1980s that have been sitting in a drawer can be reincarnated into something new.
