When I first started working out, I used my house, my own bodyweight and for creative with house hold supplies. You see gyms are GREAT but you don't "need one" to get started or to progress. You can always get creative!😊

Let’s talk High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS)

The creation came from the desire to manufacture a product that was cheaper & sweeter than sugar, and cause an addictive reaction in whatever food it’s used in so that you want to keep eating it.

HFCS is used to create food that is cheap and easy to produce & transport, and lasts for an unrealistic amount of time on shelves.

It’s used as an additive in many processed foods and drinks. The manufacturing process STARTS w/ corn, but the kernels are broken down and combined with three enzymes (alpha-amylase, glucoamylase, xylose isomerase) and spun at high speeds until a thick syrup forms.

This processing converts some of its glucose to fructose, making it a sweeter concoction of about 24% water, and 76% sugars.

The syrup is super-crazy sweet and the manufacturing process is super-cheap, so mass food manufacturers love to use it in their products!

According to the Corn Refiners Association website , “U.S. food manufacturers recognize the ability of HFCS to preserve and increase product quality while adding taste, texture and freshness.” The web site goes on saying HFCS improves texture, browning, stability, consistency, and baking properties (sweetness) in foods.

Think about your favorite foods or baked goods, they are SUPPOSED to have a limited life in the cabinet or refrigerator. They are SUPPOSED to freeze when in the freezer, burn when in the oven too long, and possibly turn out a little different each time you make them.

Now Let’s Talk About What HFCS Does to you once eaten 🤦🏻‍♀️

HFCS directly interferes with the metabolic process of leptin secretion in the body. Leptin is a critical hormone directly involved in the signals your body sends to indicate fullness. HFCS slows leptin secretion significantly, which leads to over-eating and is a real challenge for anyone trying to lose weight!

It’s a downward spiral of course. Cheap food that tastes good leads to over-consumption, which leads to increased weight gain, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, high triglyceride levels , quicker aging and heart disease.

Being "too busy" for myself, my health , or those I care about is a place I no longer wish to be.

You see, when you live in a state of busy, hustle and go go go if you don't make time for what you “say" is really important to you then it will ALWAYS fizzle out and ultimately go away.

If you are too busy to eat Healthy foods your health will eventually reflect that and suffer.

If you are too busy to move and workout , your physical condition will decline and eventually deteriorate

If you are too busy to challenge yourself and learn new things, your minds will lose memory, focus and deteriorate.

And most importantly-
If you are too busy for those say are "your important loved ones " they will fade away too.... And what kind of life would that be?

The saddest part?
By the time you realize this (and you eventually will) the damage may be irreversible.

Being "too busy" just means you don't have your priorities right.

Let’s talk ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS- You are craving sweets and Food companies know this. They have worked super hard to give us “sweet” options that have no calories and supposedly…no guilt! BUT, are these artificial sweeteners a good idea?

If you are eating “sugar free” but still have cravings, recognize that this is a common complaint with artificial sweeteners. Why? Because although the sugar substitutes have little to no calories, they have been shown to increase sugar cravings The theory is that our bodies sense the sweetness of the food and expect the 'nutrition' that goes with the sweetness (like from fruit), but it isn't there.

When you consume the artificial sweetener without the calories, your body continues to crave the calories so you end up eating more to make up for it
Also, in regards to Aspartame, the amino acids that make up 90% of aspartame rapidly stimulate the release of insulin and lepitin and THESE are the main hormones that regulate your metabolism.

Why should you care? Well, raised insulin and leptin levels are some of the driving forces behind obesity and many other chronic diseases.

Now let's talk about BLOATING- some artificial sweeteners such as sorbitol cause bacteria growth in your large intestine and THIS produces more EEEEKS- GAS Bottom line- The artificial sweeteners are NOT "healthy"

When hearing the word ‘insulin’ most associate it with diabetes and don’t pay much attention to what it means to their own body. Insulin gets a ‘bad rap’ because of its direct association with diabetes, but insulin plays a BIG role in EVERY body!
-
Insulin is responsible for determining whether you are storing or burning fat, your energy levels, your mental awareness, athletic performance, and even the possibility of chronic disease!
-
So, understanding insulin is VERY important to your health! Insulin is a hormone secreted by the pancreas when you have eaten carbohydrates.
-
Have you ever eaten a starchy/sugary rich meal and then wanted to take a nap a few hours later?
-
Have you ever started eating cookies or crackers and you just couldn’t stop? If you have experienced one or both of these situations, you have EXPERIENCED what an insulin spike can do to you. In simple terms, when you eat these carbohydrates, they are absorbed into the bloodstream (as glucose) which in turn elevates your blood sugar levels.
-
The pancreas secretes insulin to help your body process the increased blood sugar (glucose) and store it as glycogen in your muscles and liver. If the glycogen stores in your muscles and liver are full, then the ‘excess’ blood sugar is stored as body fat!

If your body is secreting insulin, it is in a ‘storing’ process, and NO body fat will be burned. Back to our donut meal: When we ate that meal, we had a large flood of carbohydrates which led to a big spike in insulin secretion. Since insulin’s job is to ‘lower’ blood sugar, it does just that. But because of the huge insulin spike, it can lower blood sugar too much, and that is when you feel drowsy, tired, and generally like you need a nap.

Along those lines, when you nibble on crackers, or other starchy carbohydrate rich ‘snack’ food, you get a steady release of insulin. This steady release of insulin keeps lowering your blood sugar, which in turn tells YOU to keep eating to get it back up.
