WARNING ⚠️ Long post alert ✨
.✨There is always room for improvement. ✨ #workinprogress
The downtime over Spring break really helped me get my thoughts in order. I am grateful for my sweet family members that welcomed me into their home and looked after my kids while I slept and slept some more. I can’t express enough thanks for the relaxing experience. .
Making time for self reflection and being intentional about discovering what makes you tick, what makes you happy. It isn’t easy and no one else can answer those questions for you. .
When I was younger I wasn’t always the best at putting my needs or selfcare at the top of my priority list. It didn’t get any easier when I got married or became a mom. This was especially hard after returning to work as a new mom. .
Like a lot of women, I’ve been good at putting the needs of others before my own. You know that phrase the flight attendants use... “Put on your own oxygen mask before assisting others” ... well, yeah, duh, that makes complete senses so why did it take me this long to get it straight? .
I will never know if I had invested more time in myself or claimed me time on a regular basis... could I have saved my marriage? Coulda, shoulda, woulda... I don’t have a time machine nor do I have a magic wand to fix it all.
You know the phrase water under the bridge. .
What about, Better luck next time. ☺️ If there ever is a next time... only time will tell. And right now, that is the farthest thing from my mind. For now, I will enjoy all the downtime when I’m not with my kiddos. I want to be the best mom I can be for them and that means recharging on a regular basis.
I’m full of cliches, you know the phrase, “If mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy?” Well, this mama is working on her personal happiness.
