// m e s s y // My daughter was poorly for 1 year and it put even more things into perspective for me. I was such a perfectionist. When she was in hospital, I started reviewing my lifestyle and I realised I wasted so much of my day, which amounts to months or years, doing unnecessary things.

Here's some of the things I did: ° I put loads of clothes into charity shops and started a capsule wardrobe. ° I stopped obsessively working out every day and instead workout x4 times a week for 30 - 40 mins a session.
° My make up is limited to a tiny little bag. No more old crap. Bye foundation! The less, the better.
° I wash my hair before I sleep so it dries over night. Saves me lots of time.
° Saying no. Taking my time to make decisions, whether it's business or personal, and stepping away from the pressure to please everyone. // m o r n i n g // ° sea salt spray

// l e g w o r k // Pigeon is one of my favorites. It's the first stretch I ever felt in my butt. Once you get adjusted to pigeon, there are a number of variations you can do to spice it up and get into different areas to ease the glutes, periformis and hips.
° Press your front shin and back leg deep into the floor and lift your pelvic floor muscles to your navel. This action will help you to avoid dumping lots of weight to the ground which can add compression to the lower spine. ° Avoid tilting your hips. Allow your hips and shoulders to face forwards
° Your heel should be infront of your public bone. If it's under your bits, you won't feel much (or any) of a stretch as the shin needs to be closer to your body. (Picture Flying Pigeon or Standing Pigeon and take note of the shin position)
° Beginners should hold pigeon for around 2 - 3 breaths to allow their body to acclimatise and soak up the goodness. Any longer and students struggle to come out and can have a bad association with the pose #feelthepose

// r e p e a t // The first one of these is the closest I've been towards a 'jump through' (without using any support) ever. My face says it all on the landing 😁 It doesn't look like much but it felt magical. Then you can I see I kept going and going and going; I wasn't able to capture the magic again 😔 But that's what I love about Yoga is that it's not about the postures, its the intention behind them is what truly matters. Aggressively performing the postures and repeating yourself will get you no-where #feelthepose 🤗

|| Sunday backbends. Wheel Pose ||
° Engage your glutes (without squeezing) and your thighs. ° Avoid your knees moving wide apart, this means your hips are opening too much.
° Lift your hips and bra strap line up towards the sky.
° Avoid sticking your elbows out towards the sides.
° Bring your elbows in alignment with your shoulders and wrap your shoulder blades firmly into your upper back.
° Your back needs as much support as it can get during backbends, so engage and recruit as many muscles as you can.
° Draw your pelvic floor muscles to your navel. Link navel to spine and then draw the sides of your waist inwards to engage your core to support your back. ° Backbends look scary and I wouldn't recommend this particular one to Beginners. However, other postures such as Bridge or Cobra Pose is a great starting point for introducing backbends to your life. Especially if you're hunched over a desk most days. The posterior part of your spine is compressed as you bend backwards, which helps push the disks in your vertebrae away from the spinal nerves. This helps to decompress the front of the vertebrae and (in time) help bring more mobility back to your spine. ° I get quite light headed easily during backbends so I recommend doing them with a trusted Yoga Teacher or perhaps during an evening Yoga practice when you have had food already during the daytime. Keep training 😙

When my hips open in inversions, I feel like I loose a percentage of usage in my core. I'm having to really dig deep and squeeze the sides of my waist in and activate my legs. Feel the pose. Notice every little difference and move away from big bold movements or changes that throw you off balance
