To be a vintage fan, you have to be a bit of a nostalgic person. I started buying vintage clothes mostly because of the cheap prices, but over the years it just seemed ridiculous to buy new shit clothes made by huge companies who only care about profit.
I could never imagine reading Rin Tanaka ’s books ten years ago, that I would be replicating antique designs no longer used nowadays. See, Us embroiderers, are like the painters of fabric art. Some create original work, some only recreate existing work.
It s a thin line sometimes between your creativity and someone else’s, so in order to stay « original » I mostly go towards what makes me feel the « fun » side of things. There are some garments that I will just never be able to own (or afford) and thats precisely why I make certain clothes sometimes. This Workshop Blouse is a good example. I saw Ryan Grossman (@3gknuck) wearing one in his Born Free Video, and thought it looked so cool.
Here’s my own take, and it s about to get greasy.
