I miss going to sushi bars. Living #LowCarb means no rice for me. I actually have an allergy to rice as well (I KNOW, what the heck😩... I’m part Asian 👉🏼 born in #Okinawa). It’s not a life-threatening allergy, mostly congestion that lasts for 24 hours. But it was uncomfortable enough to give up rice 15 years ago. My Okinawan relatives were in disbelief last time I visited.
I really do miss sitting at a sushi bar though, and hate taking a seat if I’m not ordering from the 🍣 chef. Sure, I can order #sashimi, but the fun part is (was) watching the forming of the rice, the seasoning, the plating and serving.
Recently, at @OsawaPasadena I was surprised to see a sashimi salad on the menu at the #SushiBar. Watching the chef plate the greens and individual pieces of fish made me ridiculously happy, and it was damn delicious too.
I’m always on the lookout for restaurants that offer low carb dishes. I’ve had some nasty experiences requesting alternative ingredients and cannot wait for the day when chefs begin offering #keto & low carb, as often as GF (gluten free). Above: “Rainbow Sashimi Salad” w Daikon, Cucumber, Mixed Greens, Tomato, Wakame, Salmon, Tuna, Albacore, Yellowtail, Halibut, Avocado & Asian Vinaigrette. Note that the dressing was a little sweet. I would ask for it on the side next time for sure. But still, a wonderful #LowCarbJo lunch at @OsawaPasadena w @jenn_harris_ #LowCarbLife #lchf
