Welcome to #womaneerwednesday, our take on #wcw, where we highlight inspiring women making strides in their fields. Each week, one of our editors will share a womaneer to feature. This week, Editorial Director @sacha.strebe shares why she chose the legendary Patti Smith:
"If there's one artist who singlehandedly speaksto my inner creative spirit, it's Patti Smith. No words can describe how this incredible woman has impacted my life (and countless others), but I'll do my best. Patti was a true pioneer. She owned her power, and she refused to subscribe to traditional expectations. She followed her purpose. She never gave up her pursuit of becoming an artist, even if it came at a heavy cost (there are many passages from her New York Times best seller, Just Kids, about the sacrifices she made). Being an artist was all she knew, and it was all she wanted to do, so she did it, and in doing so, she inspired others to do the same. She never strayed from her path, and neither should we. Stay true to yourself, your passions, and your purpose—Patti did."
