Satya is the second Yama within the 8 branches of Yoga. 🌸Truthfulness doesn’t necessarily translate into being nice or kindness, yet even though your truthful may cause someone’s misunderstanding, perhaps there is a way to be gentle and soft with your truthfulness.
🌸Let’s look at this in the context of your Yoga practice in your mat. How many times have you been in class and sacrificed what felt right in your body bc you didn’t want to offend the teacher by asking for another option? Perhaps you were being nice and mindful of everyone around you and didn’t go get a yoga strap or yoga block bc you were being kind to those around you and didn’t want to interfere with their practice? But who suffered? Was that true to you? 🌸Perhaps it would have disrupted someone during class, but that’s their lesson and journey. With the Yama satya or truthfulness this is a place to honor and respect the boundaries, limitations, and needs of your body. Approach yourself with a gentle and soft voice. Saying , pardon me and excuse me during a class. It will be okay if you have to move in a different direction than everyone else or go grab a prop that will best facilitate your practice......it’s okay. Ask your questions, take the options best for you , honor your truth. 🌸This is also true if you know you’re taking the easy route when you could actually challenge yourself a bit more.......stay truthful in either situation. Bc when you honor your truth, no matter how anyone perceived it, you will be honored by the divinity within. #yama #satya #truthfulness #yoga #yogapractice #yogatruth #sutras @danielle_bhavya_winter beautiful picture 🌸🌞🌸
