Honest parenting post!
I'm a mum of 4 children under the age of 6 (just) and I run my own business. So many people tell me I'm lucky that I can work from home and have the best of both worlds, it's just not true. Working from home means fitting things around my children.
🏠 I can't use my laptop around Persephonie as she is immediately on it pressing buttons. I can't always answer phone calls as the children in the background make it hard to hear. I can't just respond to emails on my phone because sometimes I am with my children and don't want to be staring at my phone.
🏠 I can't just drop everything last minute to go to my children events because sometimes I have meetings and classes. I can't always take time off work if they are ill and I can't always work at home if they are also home. I do pay for childcare because I can't getting everything I need done with a 2 year old around.
🏠 No I don't have the best of both worlds, but I do have a job I love. I can work things around my family life. I can make plans to be at school shows or help out with events. I can do the school/nursery drop off and pick up. 🏠 Being self employed has so my benefits for us as a family, but trust me when your rushed off your feet with family and life it's bloody stressful. Its hard work and its tiring, but if I want to achieve my dreams I have to put in the effort!
