50 years ago this month the iconic @esquire cover by Carl Fischer and directed by George Lois featuring #MuhammadAli debuted on newsstands. Depicted as the martyr Saint Sebastian, the cover paid tribute to Muhammad Ali’s conversion to Islam and his religious opposition to the Vietnam War which resulted in his ban from boxing and the removal of his heavyweight title.
