Most times, this lil' guy photobombs my pics, but today I wanted him to be a part of it. As one keeps hearing news of violence against women and children, it's very natural to feel frustrated. I've had many such moments. Even more moments where I have that passing feeling of "Why bother?" But, you have to believe in the power of one. In the power of protest. Being silent, to me, is a form of saying, it's ok and I choose not to be silent. You, me, we, are one in seven and half billion and growing... Do you really want to be mute and not heard? .
As a parent of a boy, who I hope will grow up to become a good man, I also realize that won't happen automatically. Us parents have a huge factor to play. Like teaching him that women have to be respected. Like teaching him to never to give in to mob culture or peer pressure. That there is no chore or job that only a girl should be doing vs a boy. .
I dream of a world where the future generation doesn't even know the word rape, because we have taught our kids that men and women are equal. Period. Women/girls are not the weaker sex that some men continue to believe in and try to use in nefarious ways. They are not to be used as pawns to inflict fear with. Here's hoping we get to see that world sooner than later. @bihari_gal, this one is for you!
