Still as nimble as a fox 🦊 bit of fun at the end of a session and got the heart rate up for sure and body felt great. I can see that I definitely move differently from left to right.

After a great chat with @brettnorrisco (check his page) about his recent post and gray institute course I thought I would add a few new bits to my training to see/feel the difference.
Doing a kettlebell deadlift I tried a few new foot positions and was pleasantly surprised by the way my body reacted to the change in stimulus and drivers to lift the weight.

Back to the ground working some lateral bear crawls with a kick through. Used the opportunity to just move and see how my body felt and moved and if I had any weak links.
Few take away tips 🔹it's ok to fail, the brain learns from failure. 🔹great for motor learning control 🔹strengthen brain body connection, which can help with activities we do every day

Great session with kim today. Really getting the hang of foam rolling and could not have asked for better weather by the river.
Second pic shows a great hip flexor stretch as Kim can spend a lot of time sat behind a desk.

Had an amazing time at the wellbeing day at shuttleworth college for all the staff. Enjoyed the opportunity to speak in front of small groups about posture and breathing.

Worked on some movement and flow and really felt my hips loosen up. Love getting back on the ground and just moving.

One reason I like any sort of movement and flow is because it can give the body so much sensory feedback.

Tough to change movement patterns overnight. But as Einstein said 'insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results'. To improve movement we first need to embrace change and try new ways to train and move. Few simple additions is to go barefoot or to get back on the ground and crawl/roll. I think you will surprise yourself.

Easy for people to forget how important breathing is. Simple example can you own breathing at the start and bottom of a toe touch? If not then you need to start practicing and owning it.

Working on some contrast training with @joshallen_director in the video we had a strength exercise (single arm press 35kg) followed by a power exercise (single arm throw) few benefits.
1- enhanced muscle fibre recruitment, great for improving power and strength
2- combination of the 2 keeps the heart rate high making for a good metabolic conditioning.

I sometimes get a funny look when I tell people that we need to train breathing.
Breathing is essential to keep us alive, but breathing well is essential to good movement.
The picture helps show the fascial connection between the diaphragm and your muscles. Looking at the deep front line, poor breathing will have a negative effect on the entire line and especially some of these muscles Posterior tibialis, Psoas, Diaphragm, and Scalenes.

The deep front line plays a major role in unlocking our overall ability to move properly.  The diaphragm is a large component of the deep front line and should not be overlooked when training and assessing clients.
For me helping people feel and move better pain free is of great importance and it's my belief that training proper breathing mechanics will greatly enhance your clients results.
