Jim Crosby  It's about the journey. DC > NYC > LA > ? Twitter:mrjimc

My last day I walked 15k along the coast to my final destination... Muxía. It was a great day first walking through eucalyptus and then across sand dunes and along the ocean before reaching the city. This is the highest point in the town... a huge hill that provides the most beautiful 360 view of... everything. Last stop would be walking from here down to the rocks... to the ocean.

On the last night of my walk I would sleep in the very sleepy little town of Lires. It's halfway up the coast between Finisterre and Muxia. I walked along the coast in the rain and ate Galacian soup by the Ocean while watching the waves roll in. If you haven't had it, It's a delicious collard green and potato based soup which is perfect food for a cold rainy day. The rain stopped shortly after arriving in town and I parked myself in this spot on a bench with a very nice bottle of Galician red wine and watched the day fade away.

Cape Finisterre by the lighthouse.

And the very rare pic of me... after arriving at Finisterre. Tired... happy... proud... It was a good day. And I kind of look like a pirate in this pic so there's that. Two more days of walking left to Muxia and I would be done... for now.

Reaching the ocean, reaching the zero marker...

There's nothing better than walking through a eucalyptus forest. Galicia is full of them. It is by far my favorite smell. I felt like I was walking through Narnia.

Following the yellow arrows on the trail to Finesterre. It was finally in view in the distance.

I would see the ocean for the first time shortly before arriving in the town of Cee. It is hard to explain how it really felt when I saw the water for the first time after walking such a long way... Pride... joy... sadness... remorse... so much gratitude... and the realization that I was nearing the end of one journey and would soon be embarking on another back in the real world.

I left Santiago and headed the 90k towards the coast, to Finisterre. The second morning after saying goodbye to friends in the town of Negreira, I set out alone a little before dawn... I walked up a never ending hill for the first hour or so and my reward for the climb was this... The shady wooded path opened to expose the fields and valley below. I stood, watching the clouds rolling through the valley and spilling onto the surrounding fields while feeling the freezing morning give way to the warmth of the day.

I'm pretty sure this church in Santiago is what inspired Escher to become an artist.

So many wheat fields and Poppys.

Nuns are faster than you might think. I chased these sisters down for about a block and a half to capture this shot as they made their way to the cathedral.
