With January kicks and new years resolutions rife, I can feel the self critical parts of people rearing their ugly heads everywhere (not the people just to clarify). I know a lot of it is to do with media (in all forms) but actually society as a whole has a lot of responsibility, and that includes us! I've watched quite a few insta stories recently and I keep hearing similar themes. Themes around not being good enough, not looking pretty enough, apologising for using a filter, apologising for looking rough and lots of talk about diets. I'm not going to say I've never done those things, because I have. However, this year and from every year on I will not apologise for the way I look. I am not going on any diets, any new year resolution mission to fail or any self loathing in general. And I ask you to do the same. Here is my face from a couple of days ago: sleep deprived, full of a virus, coldsore and a soft tissue infection in my face. My actual FACE! Hair wet, no make up and my eyes in the widest, shocked looking way after seeing the size of my mouth. It's not what you will see on the cover of vogue, or even in the local newspaper. But it's real life, I am me. I can only ever be me. So please don't ever apologise for being you, and rock the way you look regardless of make up, size, weight, hair style/colour. This works both ways, if you feel more like you with make up/hair done and your fanciest pants on then do that.
