Two Mother’s Day breakfasts including one in bed - an embarrassment of riches! #happymothersday #breakfastinbed

The newspaper/periodical section alone makes me happy. Reading Die Zeit in paper form is a rare pleasure. #germannewspaper #librariesofinstagram

When a book signed by Queen Liliuokalani crosses your bench it’s a good day. If you don’t know her story read up on this strong, fascinating woman. The last monarch of the Kingdom of Hawaii. #bookstagram #librariesofinstagram #hawaiihistory

I enjoyed celebrating the 50th Anniverssary of @silibraries yesterday in the National Museum of Natural History Library. I’d say this is a set of 18th century books bond in full leather with laced-in boards and raised cords. #bookcake #librariesofinstagram

Collections #ShareFair kick off at the Arts and Industries Building @smithsonian

Paper damaged by mold in a 1509 copy of Hieronymus Brunschwig’s “Liber de Arte Distillandi de Simplicibus”. Even though the damage took place a very long time ago (and the mold is no longer active) the paper remains weak and prone to tearing. Thankfully a relatively simple Japanese paper repair will fix the immediate problem. #bookconservation

Dressed for damp weather today? Probably not like this. Our Senior Book Conservator Katie Wagner, flanked by Ashley Jehle, @nmafa on the left and Preston Huff, @usnatarchives , on the right. This was taken on a recent trip to the US Virgin Islands to assess damage to cultural heritage collections caused by last year’s hurricane season. They are wearing so much protective gear due to the amount of mold present in the locations they are visiting. Outreach to disaster-stricken areas is just one part of our conservators' jobs. Learn more on our blog (link in profile). We're celebrating all they do with an Instagram takeover this week for #PresWk
