"There is a wonderful feeling familiar to us Montrealers that comes with that first meal of the year enjoyed on a terrasse,” @lesleychestrman writes in her latest dining review. "My first alfresco meal for 2017 … was enjoyed on an especially balmy Monday at one of the most sought-after terrasses in town: that of N.D.G.’s beloved @monklandtaverne . Every week we challenge our followers to show us a slice of their Montreal. This week's theme was #mtlfriday_circle, which drew a robust batch of posts from super moons to ferris wheels to the Gibeau Orange Julep. This caught our eye for its delicate colour and texture as well as its excellent caption: “Dandelion fireworks.” Well done @rolbapj and thanks to all who shared. Thousands of photos have been submitted to the #mtlfriday challenge since it began in 2011. Join us next week for a new theme.

Second repost of the #mtlfriday_circle challenge is this beauty from @_.metropolis._ captioned "Biosphere at blue hour". Keep posting and tagging.

This week's challenge is #mtlfriday_circle, riffing on a popular theme (circles) from about 14 months ago. To get things started here are a few snaps from Peel's very circular métro. Keep posting and tagging #mtlfriday_circle until Friday at 4pm for the chance to be featured in our Saturday print section.

Every week we challenge you to show us a slice of your Montreal. This week’s theme was #mtlfriday_motion. The responses to this technical challenge were impressive, from beautiful blurs to light painting to a single frame of a street hockey game. This image from @grantalias captioned, "Boat lights on Wentworth,” followed his neighbour heading home across the lake in Barkmere, QC near St-Jovite. Grant provided these technical specs for photo nerds: f/3.5, 60 seconds, 18mm, ISO 100. Thanks to all who shared. Thousands of photos have been submitted to the #mtlfriday challenge since it began in 2011. Join us next week for a new theme. Have a good and safe long weekend.

The responses to the Mtlfriday challenges are alway interesting but this week's #mtlfriday_motion has inspired some especially rich posts, including this from @liesesstuff (@get_repost), captioned "If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito." Dalai Lama Keep tagging and prince story by and check out the postings so far!

Great dynamic responses to this week's challenge #mtlfriday_motion . First repost is this spooky bit of long exposure business from @jyclal captioned, "Have a nice day." Keep posting. Keep tagging!

Meet this week's @thedogsofmontreal "Calvin the Shih Tzu really enjoys playing with big dogs. He is cool, quiet, calm. He was blessed with a sense of humour and an incredible coat."

We promised a technical photo challenge and here it is. This week’s challenge is #mtlfriday_motion so … it’s your move (Ha! No?). We want your best capture of elements in motion. As inspiration, here’s a gorgeous blur of metro cars from Montreal Gazette photographer Dave Sidaway. Have fun! Keep tagging #mtlfriday_motion through to 4 p.m. Friday to be considered for our Saturday print edition.
