Made it to Salta left yesterday at 4pm with @mikametge and arrived into #salta around 1am sleep for a few hours then at 8am built up our camp for the day and night. #dakar2018 #MonsterEnergyHondaTeam victory it so close yet so far it’s our target 🎯 and the boys are on it.

This was when we were on our way from La Paz to Tupiza 776km that took us up around 4200 meters (14k) Feet we left La Paz at 3am and arrived into Tupiza bivouac around 4pm. Then around 9Pm a huge storm blew in and the bivouac was a large mud pond.

Jan 11 we crossed from #Peru into #bolivia over the #andesmountains I took this photo at 4500 Meters or 14k feet we hit a little snow and now we are in La Paz for this night and leave in the morning to head to a placed #tupiza 776km drive. Also we are leading the overall in the bike category with @kevinmaxbenavides still a long way to go but we are in a great position half way thru the #dakarrally2018. 🙏🏻 and the Support Toyota Tundra built by #camburgracing has been just perfect.

The Dakar this year introduced a system of inverted sections, which saw the motorcycles tackle Sector A while the cars simultaneously raced over Sector B. The special stage covered 266 kilometres before a 508-kilometre link section took the competitors to the bivouac in Arequipa.

The stage was a dune-filled adventure, very technical with demanding navigation and high altitude to complicate matters further. There was even fesh-fesh to contend with during the offroad stretches in the earlier part of the day; the second one passed through the high dunes of Tanaka with the final stint over high-speed stony tracks.

Joan Barreda played his strategic hand yesterday and it paid off handsomely. The Spanish ace from Monster Energy Honda Team pulled out all the stops and romped home with a lengthy advantage that places him right back in the running for the overall prize. The rider from Castellón, Spain, started from ninth position, set an infernal pace from the first control point and reached the finish line after overcoming the impressive Tanaka dunes trouble-free. Barreda finished the stage with a 14’30” advantage over race leader Adrien Van Beveren. This marks the Spaniard’s second stage victory in this Dakar, the 21st of his career and has helped him leap to fourth overall, a mere 7’30” adrift of the French leader.

Wishing @kevinmaxbenavides a happy birthday today and what a killer thing to be doing on your birthday #DakarRallyBeachStart 👌🏻✅

@adrienvanbeveren wins stage 4
Adrien Van Beveren has grabbed his second victory on the Dakar after a fine performance in the Ica Desert. The Frenchman has triumphed with a significant lead of five minutes over his countryman Xavier de Soultrait. Matthias Walkner and Pablo Quintanilla have finished more than seven minutes behind.

@adrienvanbeveren stage 3 here at the Dakar 2018 was not his best day but this image sure looks he was having a blast. After 3 stages he is now in 6th Place with 11 days more of racing to go. #Braaaaaaap

Keeping a close watch on the rally from the top of this dune was the perfect viewpoint today and thanks to @leadnavsystems I found this amazing location. #monsterenergyhondateam
