In the coming months you will get an inside scoop into athletes with brain injuries as well as other #ADAPTive humans I work with, their stories, and how they function today⠀

Ill let you know that what they look like on paper (imaging) does not portray at all how they function. That is often times the case with many injuries. You are NOT your MRI/CT scan/US⠀

The body and mind are extremely adaptive, and we have a choice in all of it. That choice like all of us is the difference between living and simply existing...mal-adapting and adapting⠀

👉🏽So here is a little basic info for you on brain injuries:⠀
.⠀
✅ The definition: A trauma happens to the brain. One moment the person is normal and the next moment life has abruptly changed. The consequences of brain injuries is that is affects all aspects of one life to include personality⠀
.⠀
✅A brain injury is much different than from a broken limb in that is does not permanently effect your mental state or personality. No two brain injuries are alike, and symptoms may appear right away or not for several days or weeks⠀
.⠀
✅How someone with a TBI may present in your gym/facility: fatigue, headaches, memory loss, visual disturbances, poor concentration, sleep disturbance, loss of balance, weakness on one side of the body, seizures, feelings of depression, sensitivity to light and sounds, nausea, loss of smell, slowness of thinking, or none of these at all! .⠀
✅The kicker is this person has a wound you cannot see so is often passed off as ok⠀
.⠀
✅Like anyone else if you are their coach ask them what bothers them typically, how they are doing, and a common rule of thumb with brain injuries is managing stability requirements of movements.⠀
