For #internationalwomensday I am going to show strength by showing you one of my weakest and proudest moments. I took this picture as I was sitting alone in the Olympic Village in Rio, watching on tv as our final 800 Women's freestyle relay won gold. I was overwhelmed with disbelief at winning my fifth gold medal and also in disappointment, because that was not at all how I had expected to win it. But in that moment, I CHOSE to have strength. I CHOSE to be the woman I knew I could be. So I celebrated the five other incredible women who helped me achieve this goal, cried (an embarrassing amount) out of pure pride, joy, and love, when I saw them on the medal stand. Being a strong woman looks and feels different to every person. Be your version of strength every day of your life💛 I encourage all of you beautiful women to not only share your strongest moments, but how you were strong in your weakest moments. Those are the moments where we inspire others the most.
