For Mexican-Americans, Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead is a powerful way to honor ancestors and heritage. Learn about the holiday and join the History Center’s annual celebration that features music, folk dancing, traditional Mexican games, art activities, samples of traditional bread and hot chocolate, and beautiful ofrendas or altars, which are tributes to those who have departed. The ofrendas were created by local students, community organizations and professional artists.

The celebration is on Oct. 22 from 12-4pm. This program is offered in partnership with the Consulate of Mexico. Ofrendas will be on display at the History Center through November 2. #diadelosmuertos #photography

Over the summer we invited a group of bloggers to come to #MNHistoryCenter to experience our Then Now Wow exhibit with their families. If you have not been to this exhibit, it's a great exhibit for kids to learn about the many cultures that make up the Twin Cities.

At MNHS, we have always been committed to the idea that History Matters. And that history always starts with our personal history. History matters nationwide, statewide and in our own backyards. We asked Minnesotans to tell us why their history matters. Take a look at some of the responses we got from #MyHistoryMatters. Be on the lookout for MNHS employees asking you why your history matters in your communities and at MNHS events! #photography

This image is a schedule for the Rose Club in Germany, featuring Grant Hart on the cover.
