Mikey Schaefer  I like rocks, especially big ones I can climb. Climber and photographer for @patagonia.

@alexhonnold "sending the gnar"

A little "type I" fun in Alaska with @colinhaley1. @patagonia_climb

I came really close to landing the Vicious Fish during my brief staycation at home. But alas I let it slip through my hands just as I had it on the boat. Now off to AK to go and nab some even bigger fish with @colinhaley. @patagonia_climb Thanks for the 📷 @tarakerzhner

I've spent more time in Yosemite than anywhere else in my adult life. And a lot of that time has been spent either in this meadow or up on El Cap. In a way, coming back to Yosemite feels a bit like coming home. @toms #elcaplayback

Another weekend of skiing 🌋 with @shanjean. She is becoming quite the shredder these days. At one point she suggested we ditch the already established skin track because it wasn't steep enough...

@shanjean slides her way to the goods at Crater Lake this weekend.

Pretty good conditions in Central Oregon right now! Climb one day at Smith and then ski a volcano the next day.

Headed home after an inspiring week of shooting and hanging in Chile. It was so refreshing to see a country and a group of people that truly understand the value of wild and public lands. The environmental and even economic benefits of the newly created 11 million acres of national park are hard to fathom but I firmly believe it is a huge step forward. Thank you @tompkins_conservation @conservacionpatagonica and @patagonia for showing everyone what is possible!

Getting the lay of the land from the Kris Tompkins as we flew south today across what is now Chile's newest national park. @tompkins_conservation @patagonia

Some days are just a bit more special (and a bit more crazy) than others and today was one of those days. I've spent the last 36hrs documenting Kris Tompkins (@tompkins_conservation) as she prepared to donate over 1 million acres to the Chilean government that will be used to expand the national park system by over 10 million acres. It is said to be the largest private land donation ever. I feel humbled and fortunate to witness such an incredible event and to be surrounded by my mentors and heroes at the same time. Today was a good day.

Smash and Grab climbing is a term possibly coined by @johnfrieh that usually refers to short and precise trips into the mountains.  I've started applying this technique to visiting my home at Smith Rock in Central Oregon.  In the last year I've spent just over a month there.  I had a successful trip home last week with near perfect climbing, skiing and shooting conditions.  Fun to get out with @ninacaprez and shoot her while she pretty much hikes her way to the top of To Bolt or Not to Be.

My good friend and climbing partner, Josh Wharton, is on tour and will be presenting a short film about the (cold, horrendous and bad-ass) climbing he has done in Rocky Mountain NP. He has a show at the Patagonia store tonight in Seattle, tomorrow in Portland and Saturday in Bend, OR. He obviously struggles to make friends so please come out and show him some support!
