Celebration Friday! A bunch of folks know, but I never made an announcement proper. Here goes. In September 2018 I was unexpectedly laid off from my IT job at the law firm I had been at for 10 years. It was a shock, to be sure. I had decided to see this as an opportunity (being that I was just turning the big 4-0 in January) to figure out what I really want to do with my days and my skills. I spent the time since then really figuring out who I am, and coming to terms with some things where I might not be who I thought I was, and realizing I was OK with that. After much self-analysis I realized that what I really want is to work around airplanes. I have always loved them and still do, so as I filtered through the paths it always came to the top. Long story (already long, sorry) short, last Monday I started my new job as an avionics assembler at Diamond Aircraft. I have really, really enjoyed my first week. I get to work with my hands and build things. It really, really makes me happy. I'm getting up waaay earlier than I'm used to, but I'm still happy when I get there. I'm excited for what the future holds; it's been a while since I could say that.
