Adding Miss Morgan Harper Nichols to the people I follow on Instagram has been one of the best decisions I've made this year. Not only is she inspirational, but her words have a way of hitting you right where you need it.

Riding into the weekend like... 🎠
.
Wedding season pt 2 is about to be in full swing as we head towards October. And boy oh boy do I feel it already.
.
As this busy season approaches I'm looking towards new self care routines to make sure I've got myself rested and ready for each lovely wedding/session coming up. .
So, does anyone got any new self care regime tips? Favorite activities or places to go to recharge?
.
Sometimes something new is just what we need to keep inspired to keep creating.

✨Honest talents✨ I should probably put on my resume:
🔸Can consume significant amounts of coffee without being effected
🔸Can hang heavy wedding dresses in odd places
🔸Can fold a fitted sheet mostly successfully *hair flip*
🔸Snack Queen Certified-Always has snacks to share
.
.
Who else has a weird talent you wish you could put on a resume?

Meet my grandmother, Dotty. I like to refer to her as a "firecracker." She's always had this...spunk. Dotty has ALWAYS spoken her mind and won't let anyone put her down.
.
So when she said she wanted to ride the carousel for her 87th birthday, we all knew it was going to have to happen.
.
Even at 87 years old she's still cracking wise jokes and letting us all know how we should do things. 🤣

And just like the ocean pairs well with the sand, I go with you. 🎶
.
I'm still dreaming about not only how beautiful this wedding day was for Tara and John, but how much genuine love and care was in the atmosphere. .
Surround yourselves with the ones that'll uplift and encourage you on your wedding day.
.
The ones that have touched your life the most. You wont regret it. .

"Everything has it's place
It is certain to me now
Wild and arranged
We were built for the same purpose somehow" 🎶
@honeyedapricots

Screw the Instagram algorithm. These two are too sweet for me NOT to share all over your feed again and again.
.
Real talk y'all: I've never really been a person that followed all the trends or kept up with that "hip lingo." Ask any of my friends- I'm the old dork in the group making unfunny grandpa jokes. My sass is my only charm💁.
.
But owning a small business these days means you either have to be SUPER different or very big on the trends. And I tend to fall in this some weird void in between those two categories.
.
Not gonna lie. This has been a struggle. I've always been a bit of a non-conformist but not in the cool way. 😄 More like the "I'm too busy to keep up with that stuff" kind of way. *puts on headphones, blasts indie music and tunes out the world*
.
These social media algorithms that people use to get attention and "more followers" haven't really been my favorite thing to try out in my business. And ya know what? They're just going to change anyway. So what about something that'll last? Im not quick to jump on the trendy train but I'm all about things that will last.
.
✅If it's got meaning to it- I'm down. ✅ If it's got purpose to it- count me in. ✅If its honest and unapologetically real then subscribe me asap. I only want to partake if its beautifully done. And I dont mean it's "pretty."
.
To me something is "beautifully done" when its not only aesthetically pleasing, but purposeful, honest, and done with intent.
.
I work very hard to instill these concepts in E V E R Y aspect of my business. It doesnt always hit the algorithm right, but, ✨SPOILER✨ I'm not here for the algorithm.
.
I'm here for making art that is going to have a lasting purpose in YOUR life. Filled with intent, meaning and being apologetically real. Not some just hashtag.
.
Do y'all do any thing special to keep your daily dose(s) of social media "real?" Puhlease talk to me about it. 👇

Oh you know, its just the @_lauren_allen__ casually #slaying it on her wedding day. 👑

I'm so excited to see this lady next week to do some final touches for her hand crafted wedding album! All the albums I offer my clients are professionally curated (by yours truly)and then constructed ✨BY HAND✨ for the best quality possible. Each one is completely and uniquely made with love and care. 💕
-
I'm a firm believer in having your photos displayed in a way that suits Y O U R taste-not just on some harddrive or "cloud" to post to a facebook feed. An album, mini book, canvas, modern metal print or wall print collection. Trust me, the options are endless.
-
Memories are meant to be experienced.
-
This is why I spend a good amount of time with my clients before, during, and after their sessions to make sure we are not only getting the photos they want, but the ones they'll use. Its all done with intent in mind-✨ y o u✨ Because I want you to be as proud of the images as I am.
-
This is why I have carefully selected a plethora (what a fun word!) of options to best fit each need. In case ya can't tell-I'm quite proud and nerdy about it. 😁

✨Happy Friday! ✨
The question I get asked the most is: So, do you actually LIKE your job?
-
It always cracks me up a little when I get this question. People just seem to expect wedding photography to be an extremely stressful profession to be in. Filled with drama, bridezillas, momzillas, cake being thrown, etc. (You can thank the media for making it seem like that)
-
It makes me giggle a little. Don't get me wrong there's plenty of stress involved. But as a photographer, I get to work with people on some of the happiest days of their lives! How could you not like doing that? It's a way of celebrating the things that make our journeys so unqiue and beautiful. -
Not only are these couples celebrating the love they have for each other, but theyre celebrating the love they have in every aspect of their life. Friends. Family. Work. Fur Babies. Its kinda amazing to watch it all come together. Theyre celebrating the strife they surpassed individually to get to each other. And the strife they've been through together. The mountains they've climbed and the rivers they've cross. It may sound cheesey, and it probably is. But being there, for the ride, and capturing the sum of these moments is something so precious and dear to me.
-
This is my "why." My job is a way of celebrating the intricacies of life. It's recognizing that each person has a completely unique journey that deserves to be beautifully documented. And I firmly believe this. Our life journeys are worth celebrating. Our love stories are worth sharing. And each and every one of us humans deserve a chance to show it. This is why I do what I do. And I absolutely love every little second of it.

This photo is with two of the strongest, kindest and most beautiful inside and out ladies I've worked with. Happy almost Anniversary, Amanda and @wallyswildadventure! I hope year one has been just the tip of the adventure yet to come! .

Honestly, Mondays have never been a big struggle for me. It's those sneaky Tuesdays that usually take me off guard. Today, I'm suiting up and prepping myself for a good part two to wedding season. Sometimes we just have to slow things down a smig to up our strength. I always want to give my clients my all when I work with them (because they are amazing and totally deserve it!) To do that I try to make sure Ive dedicated a balance of self care with my work ethic. I'm notorious for overworking myself and stretching myself thin. But with time comes experience and then hopefully wisdom. Ive learned to dedicate a little time of self care each week. My favorite way is listening to podcasts on relationships and people. What do you do to suit up and prep yourself for the work youre in? Whats your self care routine?

I cant get over how much fun we had at this short session yesterday. Little Jane was such a joy to watch as she went around "tickling" the sunflowers. .
.
Since they only stay for about 2 weeks, I'm doing some last minute 🌻mini sessions this weekend. Click 👉the link👈 in the profile to get your spot. Limited slots.

As photographers, we often focus most of our portraits on the star of the day-the Bride. This is why this wedding season I've challenged myself to spend significantly more time with my Grooms. And boy oh boy is it paying off! Just look at Chip rocking that tux!

This shot from @annafloyd78 and Chip's wedding is from my first time shooting at the Lichterman Nature Center.

P.s. I'm booking 2019 right now. Checkout the link in my profile for more info.
