Back home in NJ for the first (and last) time this year. Sad to be missing out on prime temps in NC but incredibly grateful to have this time with my family. My parents are such wonderful people and I feel really lucky to have a few days to spend with them. Even more excited that @everascending will be joining me up here in a few days for Turkey Day! It's rare I get to expose him to all the wonders NJ has to offer (pizza๐Ÿ•, bagels, etc.) ๐Ÿ˜‰ Anyways, here's a beautiful pic that he snapped while I worked through the moves on Potato Chip up in RMNP this past summer ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ’• Happy Friday everyone !

If I could climb this boulder everyday, I would.

A lot of the time, rock climbing feels like dancing๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿป I actually had a dream about this line last night: Vertical Ice โ›ธ Perhaps because it was mentioned in conversation with @troubleontherocks yesterday ๐Ÿค” ... In my dream, I was not scared to make the last right hand move to the lip and it flowed effortlessly. I'd like to believe this was more of a premonition ๐Ÿ˜‰ Forever dreaming of my next adventures on Joe's Valley sandstone ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’†๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’ญ

For many years, I have been moved by the blue at the far edge of what can be seen, that color of horizons, of remote mountain ranges, of anything far away. The color of that distance is the color of an emotion, the color of solitude and of desire, the color of there seen from here, the color of where you are not. And the color of where you can never go. ~ Rebecca Solnit

Ah Chips. This was a boulder I had my heart set on when I made my way to Joe's a couple weeks ago now. My take away from my experience climbing this line: 1) I need to work on my contact strength 2) I need to work on my dead pointing abilities 3) I need to work on jumpy jumps. I'm going to lean into my failure to stick this move (that I made about 30+ times over the span of two sessions). Next time, I'll be ready for you Chips ๐Ÿ˜˜

When @everascending and I made our way to Joe's Valley in Oct of 2015, we were met with quite a bit of rain ๐Ÿ’ฆ so we bailed to SLC and planned to return when the weather improved. We were lucky enough to get two dry days before another storm system moved in. Unfortunately, this mega classic never dried in time for me to pull down on its glorious sandstone holds. Fast forward two years (almost to the day) and I'm lucky enough to feel the rhythm of the movement on this beauty | Kill by Numbers | V5 | Perhaps one of the best of the grade.. Certainly up there with The Kind, Sternum and Stick Man ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ If you're in Joe's or planning a trip there, don't skip it!

Wills of Fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ was another favorite from the trip. Such a gorgeous line. While I didn't walk away with a send, I was happy with my progress from two years ago when the opening moves felt pretty impossible. Maybe the next time I make it back I'll be less afraid to make the jump to the lip ๐Ÿ™ƒ ----------------------------------------------
Thank you for this beautiful ๐Ÿ“ธ @fannypack โœจ

Joe's Valley was a blast ๐Ÿš€. Good people, Fall color ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ๐ŸŒพ, great temps, gorgeous landscapes and world class boulders; what more could a girl ask for (besides @everascending to have been there too๐Ÿ’™)? The lovely @troubleontherocks suggested I check out Vertical Ice in Dairy Canyon while out in Joe's. While I really enjoyed that boulder, I fell in love with the movement on another climb up there: Cook the Patty |V6| Heel hook action, toe hooking, locking off, blasting off (in the words of Laure).. It's got it all! Already missing that ๐Ÿœ life.

Headed slightly less westward to touch a different variety of sandstone than pictured here.... T-minus 2 days until I get to return to one of my all time favorite bouldering destinations โค๏ธ๐Ÿœ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ --------------------------------------------

Climbing up into the mist on a beautiful Boone bloc that made my heart race this past weekend. Tallish blocs with slightly wonky topouts always require a little extra mental fortitude for me. Happy I talked myself into running a lap. The first burn I was acting, the second burn I was being ๐Ÿ™ƒ

PLEASE READ: as some of you may know, my parents' home--my childhood home--burned down last weekend in the Tubbs Fire, one of many wildfires that have been destroying large parts of multiple counties in Northern California. My sisters and I set up a fund raiser for my parents, so they could purchase the basics and start rebuilding their lives. Many people have donated so far, to whom we are incredibly grateful. But my family still needs help.
