“...-Most of the good things in our life will come from discomfort ... if you find something you love you must be open to pain. That’s what love is.”
Just read this article by Ayodeji Awosika called How To Decide What To Do With Your Life. This struck a cord.
Our generation gets overwhelmed with options and the idea that we can do anything we want in life. It didn’t use to be this way.
It’s counterintuitive to think we are less happy because we have this burden to chose our own paths and so we expect unicorns and rainbows when we “get what we wanted” because we thought this was it. But it is never “it”, we will always want more or something different.
Ayodeji says we should keep moving and evolving. Because we might not want the same things 5 years from now and we shouldn’t because that would be a sign that we haven’t changed.
We should stay curious and take steps towards our interests may that be writing, painting, coding, volunteering. Basically take action and face fears. Sounds exactly the opposite of staying where you are and just bitching about it, right? And part of my own “unhappiness” is because I’ve done just that. Stayed stagnant. Paralyzed by fear. Looking forward to changing this soon ☺️☺️☺️
