Bless the thing that broke you down and cracked you open. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Because the world needs you open.

This boy. He is literally light and dark at the moment. Full of cheekiness and strength one minute, then needing lots of physical contact and safety the next. He’s always been my sunshine boy, full of light and love... i hope we can guide him on his best pathway in the years immediately ahead. He’s still so very young at heart and innocent in thought.

Lily. Low key lighting and that beautiful face. Lots more appointments opening up
In the Easter holidays. Keep a look out for availability. We’ll post dates and times on here and Facebook! Huge thank you to all of those who have booked already 😘

Faith only works when we have absolutely no reason to have it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Beautiful in every way. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Oh Mildred! This week we moved back into our little shop in the village to set up our studio space. It just gives us more room to move and to be creative. We have so many more ideas for these portraits and what’s great is that they are naturally evolving with every new sitting. Lots more to come...

Our first full family portrait sitting will go live on our site tonight! The Crawford’s were wonderful to photograph, full of so much character and life!

So this one is a little harder to post. I know he won’t really thank me for it either, which has made it harder to decided to use it. But I figured it’s an important one to share when we’re really trying to capture raw feelings in these portraits. Anyway, here’s my eldest. In the thick
Of his last year at junior school, he’s really feeling the pressure. Last year I noticed he’d come out of himself such a lot more, was more comfortable in his own body than he ever has been and had gained a kind of quiet acceptance of himself. It’s been so great to see. This year the pressures have been added again and he’s a little more self aware and reluctant to be in the limelight. Here’s his first sitting with us a few weeks back, he’s worn out, worked up and ready for a rest. Feeling all the feels looking at this. 11 years and 4 months.

William - another from our new series. Thanks so much to everyone who booked our Mother’s Day offer. It’s been such a hit we thought we might just extend it for a few more days for you, you know, just in case! So until Tuesday midnight, you can still book a portrait shoot with us for £75 which includes 10 fully edited images. Doesn’t have to be just for children, these can also be good for personal branding head shots. You can get in touch with us on here or with @jamesmelia or @joelizabethmelia

Happy Mother’s Day to all! One of the best parts about taking these portraits is to see mums sit and have them see and accept their beautiful reality. How wonderful is this portrait??

This little face, is Orla. The Smallest one of @me_and_orla. Another photograph taken from their session as a family. Although they are separate pictures, they are somehow brought together by a plain dark background and one light. Simple and still.

Henry, it’s not the first time you have been in front of our camera and you always give more than you think you are able. I love love his calm and peaceful face. Theway the light casts just the right amount of shadow to capture the contours of his face. Working with a single light in this way is a revelation, it’s more creative than anything we’ve ever worked with and mostly... very exciting!

When it’s the last year of being a junior and high school is approaching - it’s not always so easy to be intensely watched. My biggest boy found his first sitting quite tricky, being in new situations isn’t his favourite, especially if he feels like he’s in the limelight. Definitely more of a wallflower than his brother, he’s quite often quite terrified of new things. I am so grateful for him allowing us to take these, right now on the edge of so much change. I know in a year from now it’s possible I’ll have a different person. And we intend to document that too, if not for us, for him. So much ahead of him now.
