✖️NATURAL LOOKING LIPS✖️
.
Worried about lip filler looking like “fake”, “duck lips”, or “trout pout”? Fear not! It all comes down to the injector. This is why:
.
▪️Technique
There are many ways to inject and different ways to inject mean different outcomes. There are specific techniques I adapt to each and every lip. A lip that needs maximum lifting will result in me doing a different technique compared to one that doesn’t.
.
▪️Product choice
Today, there are so many different brands of filler available to use. All fillers are made differently, even if it’s made from the same company. One might have a low g prime, is cohesive and made of different technology compared to another. Again, different brands are made with different technologies and give varying results. Someone who needs volume and structure will result in me using a different filler compared to a mature patient who purely wants “hydration”, without lifting and projection.
.
▪️Experience
Everyone has to start somewhere, but experience plays a big part on your result. Just like anything in life... the more you practice something, the better you become.
.
▪️Having an eye for “beauty”
This one is an important one, in my opinion. I’ve said it before, but you can give any qualified medical practitioner a needle to inject with, but it is their vision of what is to be aesthetically pleasing (knowing where and what product to use), that will aid in your results. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
.
They are my top tips on how to choose an injector for the results you want to achieve. I love giving natural looking results with injectables. In my personal opinion, it is what is most aesthetically pleasing. If you like extreme injectable results, I have nothing against this. I am just not the right injector for you 💗.

✖️VITAMIN C✖️
.
Vitamin C is one of my favourite skin care products! I’ve been using it everyday since my mid twenties.
.
Benefits of vitamin C include:
.
▪️Promotes collagen synthesis
Collagen is a protein in the skin that gives the skin it’s strength and structure. Our collagen production from our fibroblast cells decrease as we age. Things that negatively impact collagen production include smoking and UV damage.
.
▪️Fights free radicals
Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant. Antioxidants fight free radicals (unstable oxygen atoms that attack our healthy cells). Free radicals are derived from pollution, UV exposure, smoking, stress. According to Pharmanex, ONE CIGARETTE causes 10,000,000,000,000,000 free radicals to attack our healthy cells 😱!!!
.
▪️Evens out skin tone
Vitamin C can also help minimise the appearance of pigmentation, and red spots on the skin, giving a brighter, more even skin tone.
.
There are many forms of Vitamin C, but the one you should be incorporating into your skincare regimen is ascorbic acid. This is the “powerhouse” form of Vitamin C, due to its potent antioxidant properties.
.
Top tip: Don’t be fooled when a cream says it has Vitamin C. Look for ascorbic acid on the ingredient list on the bottle (not a jar, as jars are exposed to air and could become unstable), and look how far down on the ingredient list it is. The most abundant ingredient is listed first and the least is last.

✖️RETAINING LIGAMENTS✖️
.
Retaining ligaments in the face are fibrous tissue that anchor the skin. We have true and false retaining ligaments (swipe ⬅️ to see). The true ligaments in the face are attached from bone to the dermis. The false retaining ligaments fix the superficial fascia (SMAS) to the deep fascia (swipe ⬅️⬅️).
.
When we are young, the ligaments are taught and anchor the skin firmly. As we age, these ligaments become lax and, along with other factors, cause the skin to sag. By injecting under the true retaining ligaments, it is meant to give support back up, to aid in lifting the skin, as seen in the picture above. This is like my house building analogy from yesterday’s post. You need the support beams (retaining ligaments) to hold the roof (skin) up.
.
The “true lift” is typically done with 2mls of a firm, structural filler. However, I must express that this treatment gives very subtle results. It isn’t a major “wow” result, so this needs to be kept in mind. It is purely rebuilding the foundation, to help support and lift the skin.

✖️”TRUE LIFT” WITH FILLER✖️
.
This was before and after 6mls of dermal filler (4mls injected a few weeks ago and another 2mls were injected yesterday), plus anti-wrinkle injections to the frown and crows feet. F.y.i. This patient is 72 years old!
.
Some people will say they can’t notice much of a difference. This is to show that if the filler is placed CORRECTLY, then you will not look like a blown up balloon. This is not aesthetics, in my opinion. I want my work to be undetected.
.
Injecting a mature face is very much like building a house. You need to put the support beams up first and give it structure. Once the support has been built and the house has been finished with walls and a roof, only then you should decorate it. “Decoration” means lip filler and cheek filler 😉💁🏻‍♀️.
.
There’s nothing more “odd” looking than a mature face that has aged and only glamming up the lips and not treating the foundation and the rest of the face. You wouldn’t put a nice vase in a house on a concrete floor that hasn’t even been finished building and is still under construction, would you? As much as lip filler is trending, if it will make you look like the beautiful @merylstreep (who looks aesthetically pleasing for her age) with @kyliejenner lips, this is a red flag. It makes the face unbalanced by not creating harmony and will not be an aesthetically pleasing result.

✖️HYDRATION FILLER✖️
.
This was before and immediately after a “hydration filler”. I cannot name ingredients, or brand names, but all I can say is that this is a very “light” injectable product used superficially. It is good for fine, crepey lines, like seen in the “before” photo (you have to look closely! 🧐).
.
This was done with a cannula with one entry point, as noted in the “after” photo. Cannulas are long, blunt-tipped needles. They are great to minimise the risk of bruising, due to the one entry point, but I have bruised people from making the incision, so it never eliminates the risk. They are good when you need to cover large surface areas, and to use where there are major arteries in the face, to minimise (again, not eliminate) the risk of product blocking them.
