Without the Workforce Housing Fund, teachers, first responders, and other Washingtonians will lose access to over 1,000 affordable housing units. To give these workers a #Fairshot, we must restore the Workforce Housing Fund on May 28th.

We've seen a 5.5% reduction in the overall number of persons experiencing homelessness since 2018 amounting to a cumulative 21.9% decrease since 2016. We will continue working to ensure more residents are in safe, stable and permanent housing. #HomewardDC

Join me in congratulating the class of 2019! I’m #DCproud of your hard work, and I wish you much success in your future endeavors... ideally in DC Government:! Tag a friend who should join us!

We know the number one issue for District residents is affordable housing. That’s why, we're working to preserve and build 36,000 affordable housing units by 2025.

But with the Council's proposed cuts of $4⃣5⃣ million, we're losing nearly 2,500 affordable homes.

Let's give all of our residents a #FairShot by restoring funds for affordable housing on May 28th.

ICYMI: Lidl US will soon bring its first DC location to Skyland Town Center in Ward 7! It will create jobs and offer fresh-food options for residents East of the River. Let’s continue to ensure that all Washingtonians receive #EveryOpportunityToRise.

Check out the latest District Minute, which highlights our Great Streets grantees, the DC Funk Parade, and my goal to create 36,000 housing units by 2025. For more stories you may have missed, watch (or listen) to this week's #DistrictMinute

Industrial Bank is the largest minority-owned commercial bank in the Washington Metropolitan area. Yesterday, we celebrated its 85th anniversary by re-illuminating its historic industrial clock. I want to thank Industrial Bank for all they have done for Washington, DC. For continuing to serve as a bridge to homeownership for many of our residents…for providing second chance banking to those in our community who need it…and for partnering with our DC Department of Corrections to assist returning citizens with financial literacy as they re-enter our community.

This week, the Council’s Chairman proposed eliminating the Housing Preservation Fund, one of the main funding vehicles for the Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act (TOPA). This funding helps residents like Pearly afford to age in place in DC. #FairShot
