It's my coach's birthday! Prepare for a long post ahead:
From my first equipped competition in January 2015 to my most recent Asian Championships.
I joined Zest on April 8, 2014.
Flashforward 5 months later September 20, 2014, I got juked into joining my first raw Powerlifting competition. Then 4 months later, January 24, 2015, my first equipped Powerlifting competition.
My coach and I have been trying out for the Philippine team since. It was the ultimate dream, the ultimate honor; but like all things it was gonna take hard work.
When I tell you that I wasn't anything special, trust me, I really wasn't. It took me more than a year to accomplish what my peers had accomplished in about 6 months. My progress was slow and has always been slow.
2017, we finally made it. May 5, 2017 - Asian Powerlifting Championships and September 7&10, 2017 - Asian Bench Press Championships.
All thanks to my coach. Never once doubted me. Never once lost patience with me. Never once pushed me too hard.
- Look for a person who sees potential in you and helps you develop it.
- An athlete is only as good as their coach.
- Be nice to your coach, don't be a rude ass.
