Final weeks of 💪🏻👊🏻⚡️MMA fight camp w/ @matadorsanchez before his next @bellatormma fight . The last two to four weeks are a crucial time in the fighters training, recovery and camp. Load and volume should take a big dip- especially from an S&C and weight room perspective. I still like speed strength exercises, throws and plyos here but again now is not the time to push weight. His workout today had a heavy dose of mobility & stability to begin and culminated w/ rotational power, upper back and shoulder care. Our strength/power contrast was 3 x 3 single arm DB row w/ drop catch row 3x3. 💪🏻At this point of camp I want to keep athletes HEALTHY, keep nervous system ready, and let them leave NX Level feeling better than when they arrived. This will also possibly potentiate them for a better MMA specific practice. I've learned a lot through wrong doings here early in my coaching life. We have a tendency to bias Grit, grind and excessive metabolic work to the fighters physical prep program. I think the reality points towards a need to counterbalance those qualities.
