A rainy day in Nairobi is best spent in the tea fields of Limuru. Just roll up with ya girls to one of the tea farm gates, state yo business and then do yo business ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿพ @constancevb @mintavhall @linasusan

A few months ago I helped @charlies_travels_ organize one of the coolest events I've ever been to: the Maasai jazz concert in the Magadi desert. The idea: mix the jazz tunes of a Dutch jazz band with the tribal sounds of the local Maasai. So we drove a huge convoy of party matatus, 4x4's and trucks to the desert to get the concert started. We started the whole operation at 5 in the morning, but as all things go in Kenya: we finally played the first tunes just before sunset. With nightfall the Maasai ladies turned up... not for the music but because they were promised some goat BBQ (slaughtered on the spot) and some mais flower. To get the Maasai going we hired a "Maasai artist", or at least somebody who claimed to be one. When we booked him we had no idea what a Maasai artist actually is or does, but this guy guaranteed us he could get the party started. And he did. He pulled the Maasai ladies on stage while still picking the goat out between their teeth. They sang together while the jazz band provided musical backup. Magically: it actually sounded good. Anyway: there's a documentary of this event on the way. Hope to share it soon ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿพ

The new train from nairobi to Mombasa. One of the most surreal rides I've ever taken in my life. A Chinese built train (can't miss that, as the interior is decorated with Chinese flags?!) running straight through the Kenyan landscape (tip for anybody too lazy to take their friends on a real safari: "if you look really closely, you might see an elephant" @mintavhall & @constancevb). The employees take their job extremely serious: "sorry miss, could you remove your bag from the hook... that is a hat and jacket hook" and the food trolley is the slowest thing I've ever seen.
