As part of the London Festival of Architecture, ARCA will be presenting an installation at the Margaret Howell Shop, London.
TUESDAY 13 JUNE – SUNDAY 2 JULY WIGMORE STREET LONDON W1 'Trace' presents two cast models of the WWII Bankside Air Raid Shelter which runs below the Neo Bankside London SE1. The models will be a delicate and poignant response to the theme of the London Festival of Architecture, 'Memory'. The Shelter is a little known piece of subterranean architecture and was constructed to protect the employees of a paper manufacturer which lay adjacent to Bankside Power Station's west façade. It is a reminder of London's recent industrial past, fast becoming forgotten in the rapid development of Bankside.
The Archive for Rural Contemporary Architecture surveys, collates and celebrates Britain’s rare and often overlooked twentieth century rural architectural sites.
