For DAY 1 I chose a basic forward fold, one of my very favourite asanas! The way I feel this pose is always new for me. Sometimes it's hard, some other I feel I resist to abandon myself, while somedays it's the most comfortable way I can sit ๐Ÿ˜Š

Yes, I've never went camping before ๐Ÿ™ˆ. You know: yoga, nature, etc. BUT no, never tried it ๐Ÿ˜…. After a few days we will drive up to Puglia to end our vacations in super relax ๐Ÿ˜Œ.

Finding some time to surrender ๐Ÿ˜Œ

Yesterday I finally managed to find one hour for my practice, after a very busy week ๐Ÿ˜ฅ. It felt really amazing!
.
I am starting to appreciate so much the final part of my practice, which I am trying to dedicate always to savasana, and to some meditation.
.
I used to neglet savasana moment, but it is maybe the most important one, where we can just STAY.
.
Laying down on the ground is simple, but it's harder to really surrender ourselves in that pose. It's a supine pose and for our brains this means "vulnerability" (think about animals and when they feel they can show you their belly ๐Ÿ˜Š).
.
But being supine and vulnerable is just the first part. We have to let go all our fears that vulnerability inevitably brings to us. Everything can happen, but all we have to do is surrender to Life and let the ground support us, our weight and our worries.
.
Since when I practice this pose regularly, I am getting more and more used to abandon myself to life in everything may happen to me ๐Ÿ™
.

Hello lovely yogis ๐Ÿ™. I really needed a couple of days away from IG and my phone, I know some of you can understand.
.
I've never been a "social" type. My friends are my family, but they are few and I know I can count on them even if I am not always physically present. I am that kind of friend that even we don't keep in touch for months, I can hug you like the very first time when we finally meet again.
.
Sometimes you could think I am quite absent ๐Ÿ˜…, but I am not. I just like to know even if I am busy or I just need to stay alone for a while, true friends are always there. I can say I am always there for others.
.
Maybe I just need my space ๐Ÿ˜Œ. So it is for IG and this community that is giving me so much, but it also drains me, sometimes. I have to look at it with perspective, to find a dimension I feel comfortable with.
.
I don't know if this all males sense to you ๐Ÿ˜…. Just wanted to say that even if I don't post for 2 days or I don't fill my profile with 10 stories a day, I am still there ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’—

I didn't have the chance to speak about my last yoga retreat. This mantra, known as "Shanti Mantra" (translated above ๐Ÿ‘†), will always remember me this experience.
.
Many of you, Italian or not, probably don't know Antonia Tronti. I really wish she could be a teacher of teachers(everyone ask her, but she doesn't feel it's time ๐Ÿ˜”), since our "western" yoga really needs people like her, who can open our minds to something more than "gym-yoga".
.
I don't know if everyone needs this depth, this spiritual research. It isn't something I need to know more or to explain something unexplainable. I really don't care, actually.
.
Yet, I believe we should all do a step forward do really be aware that we are made of the same substance, that we are all doing the same path, that we are all cradled by the same Life.
.
So, the main thing I bring with me from these days with her is not an answer, but a question, which cracked something inside me, like I break a layer of myself.
.
And the question is: WHAT'S BEHIND?
What's behind our bodies? What's behind our breaths? What's behind our thoughts? What lies behind us? Behind our egos?
.
This is the question I ask myself when I meditate, and I suddenly come into a place we are all there, in the same thing behind all we THINK we are ๐Ÿ˜Š

It's DAY 10 and we are going to give our hip flexors one last intense stretch! We have kapotasana or wheel pose as our last pose.
.
Let's be honest, this isn't my best kapotasana so far ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ™ˆ. My hands are so away from feet, while other times I touched them, but I don't care, since it was the best and safest kapotasana I could go with, without a proper shoulders and back warm-up.
.
My hips area looks quite great, though, which means I worked in the right place here ๐Ÿ˜‰
.
โš ๏ธ If you still feel uncomfortable in this pose, try using a block in your lower back area and just place your head on the floor, with hands palms on the ground. Don't push it too far, just stay and breath.
.
Breath is your strongest ally ๐ŸŒฌ. Just keep breathing in poses, find space in your torso, find space within yourself to allow things to happen. It's a welcoming attitude you can bring in your lives too ๐Ÿ˜Š
.

Ok, I am officially so tired and I so need a vacation ๐Ÿ˜…... well, not before mid august, so let's face this new week with some extra strength ๐Ÿ”ฅ

For DAY 9 of #AllAboutTheHipFlexors we have a super tough pose for our psoas, which is L-sit.
.
This is maybe my favorite arm balance, but the first times I tried it I thought that there was no way I could do that pose! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ
.
Well, actually L-sit is quite achievable with the right tips, but of course you still need a strong core, hip flexors and quads, plus some flexibility in your hamstrings. For more cues I remind you to #RoadToLSit or #MarastinaHowIDo ๐Ÿ˜Š

Below you can find some advice and way to play with this pose ๐Ÿ‘‡

โžก๏ธ Go for a deep forward fold, put your hands outside your legs, between your hips and knees. Protract your shoulders and engage your core, then push up and back and lift your feet ๐Ÿ’ช

โžก๏ธ To play with L-sit and find new ways to work on your core, try also some straddle, both with one hand between your leg and one out and both your hands between your legs. In the first variation feel how the balance changes and you really have to work on your hip flexors to lift your leg ๐Ÿ”ฅ

DAY 6 of #AllAboutTheHipFlexors is another stretch, a little more intense for your back ๐Ÿ˜‰ Camel pose! ๐Ÿซ

Here are some cues for your Usthrasana, which are the same I focus on when I practice this pose ๐Ÿค“

โžก๏ธ Start with legs hips distance apart.
โžก๏ธ Bring your hands to your waist, thumbs slightly on your lower back. Focus on feeling your quads and your hip flexors opening.
โš ๏ธ Engage your glutes (which doesn't mean you have to squeeze them like hell ๐Ÿ˜…) and your abs. To do that, think about your ribcage pulling in, even when you are in backbend ๐Ÿ‘‡
โžก๏ธ Inhale and find more space in your chest, opening your ribcage laterally. Start to bend backward and put your hands on your heels (if you want you can point your fingers on the mat to gain a little more space), on your ankles or towards your back knees.
โžก๏ธ Stay for some breaths, don't hold your breath in, but search for long and calm exhalations here too ๐ŸŒฌ
