Make MN  A print magazine celebrating craft, community, and connecting to this place we call home | Pre-order the Identity Issue today! #makeitminnesota

In the upcoming Identity Issue, we feature a gorgeous photo essay by Tyler Anderson, the lifestyle, landscape, and portrait photographer behind the lens @driftless.visuals.
Through the images in this piece, Tyler sets out to tell the story of his community of Lanesboro, his relationship to home, and the geographical value of the Driftless Region of Minnesota.
Through Tyler’s excellent work, we’re grateful to share a glimpse into rural Minnesota, a vast and beautiful landscape that is often overlooked. Check out his photography @driftless.visuals and grab yourself a copy of the upcoming Identity Issue at the link in our bio!

Leaning into positive and simple and hopeful things today with the help of stories like this one. Written and photographed by @sageeimagery in the curiosity issue, this essay celebrates curiosity and nature and connection - and how they all play such important roles in our lives.
So grateful for our community of writers, photographers, illustrators, featured makers/artists, patrons, subscribers, and followers. You lovely folks inspire us every day to make a magazine about our communities - something we’re so proud to do.
So, with an open heart and mind, I invite you to join the Make MN community and support local, immersive storytelling and independent publishing!

We’re in the throes of designing the Identity Issue and feeling excited to go to print and share the entire magical collection of stories with you.
In spending a great deal of time with these stories, it’s clearer than ever that this magazine is built atop a foundation of learning and connection. In every perspective uncovered, every voice shared, every story told, we ask deeper questions and we extend our web of connection a bit further. Our goal is to celebrate our differences, and in doing so, discover our similarities as well.
This issue in particular has given us so much to ponder on both a personal and broader community level. We’re reminded of the myriad of identities surrounding us constantly, and the very real importance in being mindful of our connecting threads. With every magazine, we’re reminded what an honor it is to share the stories of our communities. An ode to the overlapping identities of this place, we hope the upcoming Identity Issue finds its way to you! Pre-order yours at the link in our bio ❤️

The Curiosity Issue is filled with inspiring individuals whose work pushes boundaries and asks big questions. One of these is the talented Keith Wyman, maker behind @concretepig.
As writer Colby Wegter shares, “To constantly move forward is the most important part to Keith. “Leaning forward” is one his favorite phrases because if you’re stagnating and not creating, you’re not reaching your full potential. Always in the back of Keith’s mind is the pursuit of perfection, and while he admits it’s still eluding him, it’s this extremely high standard that sets his work apart and inspires an emotion in those who experience it.” •
Order yourself the Curiosity Issue for a healthy dose of inspiration. As a bonus, you’re supporting local indie publishing along the way!

We’re in the final stages of editorial revision and feeling so very honored and excited about the incredible women featured and contributing to the Identity Issue. Their voices built this collection of essays, interviews, profiles, recipes, and beyond - and we can’t wait to share it with you. From makers to artists, farmers to beekeepers, and writers to photographers, we’re grateful to publish stories that offer an immersive glimpse into each of their lives and passions.
We owe a huge thanks to the ladies (and hey a few cool fellas, too) who were kind enough to share their ideas on identity with us. Pre-order is now available - support community driven storytelling and order yourself a copy or subscribe ❤️

We’re grateful to share a beautiful story and recipe by Lisa Wentworth of @lakesuperiorkitchen in the Curiosity Issue.
Lisa’s “ode to the forager” shares her love for making healthy, colorful food at home while supporting the Duluth community by using local ingredients and products. Like many stories featured in our indie mag, hers is a tale of exploring routes of connection - this time, by way of local, wild mushrooms and some creativity in the kitchen.

Coming soon in the Identity Issue is a profile on Emily Vikre, half of the founding duo behind Duluth gem @vikredistillery.
Back in 2010, Emily and her husband Joel had an idea. Inspired by the clean and clear water of Lake Superior, Emily admits, “The best answer that we have been able to come up with is that Lake Superior made us do it. It was almost like we didn’t have a choice.” •
We’re so excited to share the story of this lovely North Shore distillery whose mission, spirits, and inventive cocktail recipes feel distinctively Minnesotan. 📸 @kelsey.ro

❤️❤️❤️ We love this photo of the curiosity issue posted by @minnyandpaul!

Nature speaks to our depths 🌿

We’re grateful to have interviewed Sarah Nelson, the artist behind @auslandishcompany, in the latest curiosity issue. Connecting with nature is a vital element in Sarah’s life. Her love for the natural world inspires her to visit and illustrate National Parks, State Parks, and various Minnesota, U.S., and international cities. Traveling to these places and opening her heart to the natural world has inspired Sarah to incorporate more eco-conscious elements into her artwork and daily life, hoping to grow Auslandish by way of hikes, nature sketching, fun adventures, and making art. By connecting with humans and nature, Sarah aims to spark a shared curiosity and embolden people to engage on a deeper level with nature—and at the same time, broaden her own awareness of ways to act sustainably.
