Maedhbh Ní Áinle  I eat stuff. Sometimes lift stuff. Mostly eating though.

Due to being half sick and half sore for various reasons, I didn't train this week yet. So off I went to the gym with some lemsip capsules and a coffee. Last set of six with 52.5kg may as well have been 100kg. But, I got it up, there was no other option but to get it up. Trying to keep top sets to total 24 - 30 reps. Next day will be better!

So I've kinda been thinking about skipping a lot since I found that rope in the #gym. I was actually #jumping, bending #knees and kicking heels that night. I bought a rope. There are all kinds, it's a tad ridiculous. Anyhow this is a Nike volt or something, I liked the colour. I'm adamant to be able to #skip that effortless way that #boxers do, with the wide steps, and heel toe, and jogging movements too. At least I'm not jumping as high, just need t crack the rhythm and I know ill make progress. 200 skips tonight, only took about twenty restarts! My neighbours will be well entertained this summer, and yes that's a clunky body warmer which probably didn't help but it's cold! And yes they are knickers and bras on the line too. #noshame

#Comp #prep is officially underway for all lifts now. Started #squat tonight with 90kg for three sets of 12. A little wobbly here and there as I'm a little out of practice with reppage, and indeed the belt. Twas blistering hot in gym, energy was low, and this amount of reps winded me, but once I got going I remembered how much I #love squats! Happy with all aspects, in particular depth as even with a low angle camera they look comfortable. Good old daily #hipmobwod

After widening my #bench grip by 8 inches a few weeks ago its been a bit of a #learning curve all over again. Reps have been going well but the last time I tried 60kg with the new wider grip twas a shakey show. Did 50kg for 3 sets of 8reps and decided twas a good time to try a heavyish single again. This was much better and I think I've finally found my optimum #grip. Nice slow and paused at 86% of my #max with plenty left in the tank. Looking forward to see can I pull a PB out of the bag for #AIPO on July 22nd. Will certainly try my hardest!

Introduced an old favourite back into #training tonight. #Bike work for #distance or #time. Tonight I started with 10 mins of bike and got 3.41km. Not pushing too hard but turning the #resistance up. Then as a finisher, after my actual session I crawled back to the bike, but this time hid the distance and just go for 10 mins fatigued. On the 10 min mark I had reached 3.78km on the second run.
Added 370 metres fatigued. Now I've something to gauge against for every session! Hide the #clock! Beat yourself!
Oh, I almost died, photo to remember how hard it was tonight, and it will never be that hard again!

No wet suit, no togs, no problem. Glad I did that even if it did take me 15 mins before I plunged the shoulders in. The cold sure does cure what ails you! @grrrl_clothing is good for the beach too!

So I'd a great session tonight. Reddened the sockets out of myself with all sorts but twas fun.
As a finisher I said I'd do thirty #skips in a row. My legs were dead and heavy and my shoulder sockets worn through but on my 825th attempt I finally got a set of 31 I think! I love #skipping, even if I don't know the most efficient way to do it!

Haven't really #squat in two months. Well, two high rep #sessions and a #crossfit session. Decided to get the pain over with and #paused some handy 100kg tonight. 6 sets of 3. Then did a quick 3 sets of 5 at regular speed just to be sure. A few niggles said hello across my pec and #shoulder like before the last #comp but #legs, #quads, #glutes and lower #back were happy out. Hadn't worn belt a whole pile either, ouch,because of the pile!
Still undecided about next comp, it's July or October but I need something to keep me honest too! Yay for squats. Followed by #bench. I bench every session now. I just like it!

Cleaning out the fridge! Next few #meals are a nod to my beloved greens! Have #asparagus, #green #beans, #peas, #courgette, #coriander, as well as #corn, yellow #pepper and some #pesto, with loadsa #garlic, #onion and #mushroom too, with a scoop of #pasta for my next three lunches. Oh there is #freerange #chicken breast in there too. #Breakfast is four #egg #omelette split into three with a bag of #spinach thrown in, some cherry #tomatoes and torn #turkey in the mix, as well as some turkey #rashers on the side.
Tomorrow is going to be a lot of fun in the #gym.
